Leaf springs for my 64 Belvedere, 1"over stock height? - 03/09/17 08:44 PM

Just ordered new HD leafs from Springs & Things 1" over stock height, but its a ballpark guess on my part as to achieving the right ride height. Its got the orig leafs with air shocks from the prev owner & I put 255/60x15's on 8"cragars on the back. I want to remove the air shocks & not have the tires rub. I like the way it sits now & don't want it to look "jacked up" in back, so do you think 1" will be ok or would stock height springs be best? Also, will the springs settle? Any pics of yours would be helpful.

Hard to answer without knowing how much height you needed to add with the air shocks to avoid rubbing.
Several guys here with early-B sedans/HTs; post your rim backspace and you'll likely get more specific info.
My early-B cars were both wagons - '63 & '64 - but the wheel wells differ from sedan/HT. I used ESPO +1" on the '63 which really didn't raise the rearend much, but wagons have more rear weight and maybe their specs didn't account for that even though I gave them that info.
I ran 255/70s on 15x7s on my '64 with stock/fairly dead springs, no problems; the '63 got 285/70s on 8" Mopar wheels (4.5BS) and that was a TIGHT fit, needed +2" springs to avoid rubs if I added weight. Same wheels/tires had more room on my '64 which had SS springs, probably 2 -2.5" higher than the old springs. Not sure that info helps you, but that's my experience.
That Code C light blue looks good - same color as my '64 - really pretty with a blue interior.

Thanks for the info & my rims are 8" & have the standard 4.25" backspacing, and the 255's have plenty of clearance. I'll totally deflate the shocks & see if these orig springs retain their stock height. Guess I shoulda done that first. I like the dark blue better, but this survivor was too nice to pass up & the light blue with med blue interior is a nice contrast.

I have a 65 convertible.
I used another vendors plus 2 inch springs with the adjustible front hangers.
they did sit ok for a couple of years then sagged a bit so I just recently put them on the higher holes on the hangers.

I too have 255 60's all the way around.
Because of that I had to bring up the front a bit to stop the fronts from rubbing when in a turn. so my ride height is going to be a little different.
