Caliper upgrade for 1973+ a/e-body spindles? - 03/09/17 07:59 PM
Decided that my 72' charger disc brakes are too stock and will not be up for the performance drivetrain upgrades. I have a/e-body later style spindles I can run is place of those and have access to 11' and 11.78 rotors. I want to keep my 15x7 steel rims and thinking ancalipwr upgrade with factory power booster would be the way to go. Any suggestions? Also, the old 11.78 brake conversion is not what I'm after as the stock caliper in not up for upgraded speed and city driving.

Andy F used to offer adapters to run Viper calipers on those spindles, when you use the 11.75 rotors. Doctor Diff may offer something too.

I remeber that kit. Was pretty popular, but probably could sell enough due to cost of Viper calipers. Hopping for something in performance caliper. Stock calipers I have not seen with enough stopping potential on larger cars.

Dr Diff sells a kit for the drum spindle->11.75"/Viper caliper conversion, stock steelies may not have enough clearance though.

This would do the job for you. We use this kit for track days and road racing

Answer depends on how far you want to go with the upgrades. A lot of the lighter calipers have smaller piston area and would likely require booster/master upgrades + prop valve.
The 11.75 rotor and factory caliper works quite well with some performance semi metallic pads. That would be my suggestion if you want to keep it simple.
