Dakota coil spring rate? PN interchange?upgrade springs - 01/04/17 07:46 AM

I'm looking for front coil spring specs for a 1993 Dakota with 5.2 and any suggestions on upgrade front coil springs for autocross use. Just looking for a baseline suggestion or info that could help in selection. Thanks

No idea on spring rates but I know it's been discussed before on various forums for the 97-04 trucks. Google may turn up something. The earlier trucks were a lot lighter though and may have a lighter rate. If the springs are the same diameter/height, simply swapping to a 97-04 spring may be all you need.

Interesting. The end said that viper arms n spindles are close enough to Dakota that they can be used? What an easy way to run 13" rotors and 4 piston brembo calipers!

Link states the FIRST Gen Vipers(92-96) share some Dakota parts and I knew they at least used the exact same UCA but then they show picks of a SECOND Gen Viper(96-02) suspension!?!?

Knuckles and LCA look completely different Gen1 vs Gen2 Viper

I don't know the vipers well enough, do the gen 1 and 2 cars have the same front suspension? They use the same brakes, and the pics in the link appear to have the gen 1-2 caliper mount ears vs the gen 3 cars that use a radial mount caliper

I didn't know they had the same exact upper control arm dimensions as Dakota, which years Dakota? The pics look like cast aluminum arms. The 97-04 dakotas use a stamped steel control arm

I'm no expert either but the Gen1 Viper's stamped steel upper arm screams Dakota.

Is that ball joint riveted in? It certainly looks similar. Definitely different than the pics in the link above.

Hmm. 97-04 Dakota is riveted in.
