Re: 68 Hemi Super Bee clone - 10/23/11 02:11 AM
Baddest stock blueprinted Hemi i`m capable of building, column shift auto, Black exterior with black bench seat interior, red stripe and redline tires. Because of the solid cam, light weight and rear overhang I believe this car is the sharpest tool the Mopar camp has in it`s shed for Pure Stock/Factory Stock racing. We will see..

Hey Dave, I told you its hard to beat that Texas sheet metal!!! Looks great cant wait to see that bad boy tearing up the Pure Stock Drags. That car will look sinister in black with the red bumble bee stripe. Two thumbs up bud. Wish I was still in Michigan to look at up close.

Wow I miss dry sheetmetal. That's a really clean start. That thing is so solid it makes me want to crush my car since I'm picky.

Re: 68 Hemi Super Bee clone - 10/26/11 04:35 AM
Dave,
Do you feel that the air grabber is not worth the weight or are there other weight differences between the 68s and 69s?
Posted By: DaveDudek
Re: 68 Hemi Super Bee clone - 10/26/11 12:17 PM
I`d say the Air Grabber is not worth the weight, I always wished i could pull it off the Roadrunner but the rules of FAST would not allow it, at this time i`m unsure of the other differences but the NHRA stock class has the 69 about 100lbs heavier than a 68.

Re: 68 Hemi Super Bee clone - 10/26/11 06:00 PM
Thanks,
I've often wondered about that. I guess I should have said ramcharger instead of air grabber since it's a Dodge.
Another question I have is about the black paint and interior. Black is my favorite color on any vehicle but I wonder if the reflective qualities of a lighter color would be beneficial to keep the car cooler? In other words, would a light colored car ET better?

I think a good coat of wax on the paint will allow the car to cut the wind better so that will offset the heat retention of the paint color.
But to be honest with you...you might have a point there. I know many stock, super stock racers don't paint there engines just for that very reason.

I agree that the Ramcharger's benefit doesn't offset the added weight. No the paint color of the car doesn't make any difference.

That is one thing you will never see with a repop quarter panel is the body line in the middle of the panel. It is very nice to find such a solid car to work with. Iam sorry that the " machine " is playing games with pricing Dave.

Every time you sell a car I think "What is that guy thinking?!?"
Then you build something even more badass!
Then I realize, "...okay, that's what he was thinking!"
Very nice!

Don't forget, these F.A.S.T. cars would likely win their classes in car shows and still run the low 1/4 mile numbers they do. It's mindblowing.

The road runner was a F.A.S.T car, this super bee will be a factory stock car. 2 different animals. The road runner went 9.98 @ 139 mph. The fastest factory stock hemi car has gone 11.35 @ 124 so far.

I have seen the car and it is absolutely gorgeous. Dave and Dave Sr. did a great job and it makes VERY good power, I hope with the projected cooler temps on Friday and Saturday at NTR that Dave gets some strong 11 sec time slips. I can not devulge how much power it made at the wheels, but it is right at the top of the heap with the other hemi cars in PS.
