I bought a original black paint 70 satellite ragtop and it should be showing in another week and cant wait to start cleaning it up and detailing it. I plain on keeping most of the original paint if it's decent enough. I wanted a 70 satellite ragtop to make into a roadrunner ragtop clone but after looking at how rare this car is I dont think I'll be able to get my self to do it to this car. It's original black ext with white top (black now) and white interior 383 auto on the column. I guess they only made 44 383 auto 70 satellite ragtops. I didnt relize this untill after I purchased it. I'll add some nice quallity pics when it shows up. The car looks really straight in the pics and has the numbers drivetrain and original fender tag. Not sure on the buildsheet yet. I cant wait to get it.

It's really nice. I would love to have a 1970 Belvedere/Satellite/Roadrunner/GTX in the future just to customize and have a nice cruiser.

Thanks, I bought it from a friend of mine who has had it for a while. I kept thinking about the car every so often and finially had some extra money and asked him if he wanted to sell it. I paid a little more then what I thought it was worth but I really wanted this car. I got a nice set of black steel rims and a new set of polyglas tires that I'm going to put on it. The back tires are the new L60's so it should look pretty meaty in the back. I'll put the correct dog dish hub caps on it as well.

glad you're gonna keep it a Satellite. nuthin wrong with a Satellite or Belvedere
are those 15" Magnums on the front? since you're gonna go doggy style...whatcha gonna do with those... ?:

Well it looks it will be here before the weekend and I cant wait. The previous owner install the original 383 motor in it for easier transport. I'll post a bunch of pictures of it when it arrives.

Well I got the satellite finally and I love it. It's going to need a few places touched up but I plan on leaving about 90% of the original paint on it. The seats in it are correct but have the wrong covers on them, looks like a seat cover shop made them to match the orig but are off some. When I took the front bench out of it I never thought I'd find the original broadcast sheet under it as it was recovered but they managed to leave it there when they recovered it so that was a big bonus. Now my car is numbers matching with build sheet, fender tag and drivetrain. I wanted to see what it was going to look like with my new tires on it so I stuck them on it last night.

I also found out previous owner history and it looks like the was originaly from NJ. Any one remember a black satellite ragtop 383 in NJ back in the 80's?

This is what I wanted it to look like but convertible of course. I still might add the air grabber hood to it and just keep the original hood tucked away.

Hi Mark, I'll add a bunch this weekend I replaced the whole quarter on the drivers side with one that Rick gave me. I had it all on in one day, picked it up at Ricks on Sunday at 11:00 and had it all welded up that night on the car by 6:00 that night. I've been going out late at night to grind the welds down. Should be ready to paint it out this weekend. I also got the runner hood all ready to paint as well so that will be painted and installed this weekend. Then I'll clean the white interior up and install all of that. It was missing the main engine harness so I bought a new one from Jacks. I'll need that to make the top go up and down to see if it all works. Should have the engine ready to go back in this weekend as well. It's going to be a busy weekend but I'm looking foward to it(lol).

I`m having more fun with my barn fresh daily driver 67 GTX than my restored 68 Charger. In the future, if I decide to buy any more cars they will be like my GTX and your Satellite rag. No more over the top restorations for me. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

We'll I thought this was going to be easy car but as I dug into it I decided to repaint the whole thing(lol). Might as well get it over with. I should have the whole car painted by next week end. It's going to look just like the picture I posted above.

Thanks guys, I've wanted a 70 runner ragtop for the longest time and really love them. Found this car and thought it would be perfect as I wanted to do a triple back 70 runner ragtop convertible. Then I found out they only made 33 of them and I started having second thoughts. I guess if someone wanted to make it a satellite again down the road all they would need to do is put the orig hood back on it and drill the holes for the trim, and change the tailights back. I plain on changing the interior over to black as well. I also plan on adding the v21 satin black hood treatment and factory rear stripe in satin black. I'll also add the running bird decal on the front fender with no dust trail. 440+6 decals on the hood as that's what I plan in installing into the car down the road. I'll keep all the original driveline to it and satellite parts that I take off it. Should have some pics for you guys real soon.

It's your car, do as you would like with it.
I do have to say that I like the way the chrome trim and the silver tail light panel of the Satellite contrast with the black paint. The dechromed Road Runner looks a little plain IMHO.
Likely once it's a Road Runner clone it will never be a Satellite again. 
Either way it will look really good, and it's your car, your money, your time...

Yup, I've known about the car since I bought a macho ramcharger off of him back 6 years ago. I've always liked it and was in the market for one so I asked if he wanted to sell and lucky for me he did. I guess he picked it up at Carlisle back in 96 or so. I keep forgetting to bing the original paper work home with the original owners name on it to try and track him down for some original photos of it back in the day.

Tom is a character for sure and always has some cool old Mopars around. My buddy with the TX9 RR ragtop pictured above also kept that car in the back of his mind just in case Tom decided to part with it! Guess you beat him to the punch

I remember going to his house a seeing the f6 green 69 daytona under a tarp, that's something I'll never forget.

I really didnt get much time to talk to any one at the show, I think I was to busy chasing my little girl around the show(lol). I havent done much to it in the last two weeks I've been busy with every thing else it seems like. I've got it stripped down to a bare shell. It's all ready to go down to the sand blast guy now. I'll get it back and dp90 all the bare steel and go from there. I promise I'll post some pics when I get it looking alittle better. I cant wait to get the shell all painted out black.

Just found a mint original air grabber hood with all the hardware.
I've got the inside of the car all ready to shoot out with primer and it will be painted black shortly after. I'll have pics soon...

Just picked up this diecast model. It's really detailed and this is pretty much what my car will look like except mine will have the v21 painted hood treatment and black steel rims. It actually has a carpet in it(lol).

I found it doing an image search under Google "1970 road runner convertible". Here's a side shot of it. I dont like the wheels and I'm not much for the dust trail.

It's a hemi orange r/t se 383 car. It got hit early on in life on the left front corner. The orange is all original paint.

Thought I was going to have to come up with some money but false alarm(lol). There's two cars that I would sell this car for and one is a 69 1/2 bee, and the other is a 71 cuda 340 vert. Probably picking up another 70 satellite vert real soon. It's one we sold for $100.00 back along time ago. Looks like we might be getting it back. It's really rough but restorable. This one is not nearly as rare as my black one being it's a 318 car.
I talked to the second owner of my black satellite ragtop and he told me that his son used the car to travel back and forth to college back in 82.

I totally understand. My friends say that I have Mopar ADD. All of my Mopars are eventually sold to get the next "high" if you will. I never could figure out how some of my buddies can hang onto the same cars for decades!

I've had my share of cars, I love them all but cant aford to keep the one I have to get another. I try to work my way up to a better car most of the time. Some times I will need to pay a bill and have to get into more of a project car then I wanted to get into. I always try to find the rare ones or ones that are different from the rest. Lately it seems like I brake even and I really dont care as long as I get to drive them every year
. Another one of my favorite parts about this hobby is finding them. It's a thrill trying to track them down when you get a lead on one.

The back rims are 15x8's with the new L60's on the back. They fill the wheel well out very nicely and give it a nasty look from the back. Cant wait to put them back on the car after it's all painted.

Hi Mark, in the middle of buying a 71 cuda 340 4 speed vert. The satellite is going to have to go as I cant afford to keep both. I cant really pass up on a 71 cuda vert either. It should look really cool driving around with my brothers 71 cuda vert. I'm going to probably put the satellite on ebay this weekend. It's almost ready for paint, if it does not sell unpainted I'll paint it out in a couple of weeks.
