1969 Charger Survivor 57,000 miles and counting - 12/05/09 04:48 PM

I'll throw in some pics of my summer driver that should fall into the survivor category. 1969 Dodge Charger that was in the same family from new until about 2006.The fellow I got it from, bought it from that family and imported it into Canada from the US but never registered it.I got it in 2007,had it inspected, and started enjoying it all over Vancouver Island. I drive it alot in nice weather and get nothing but thumbs up and conversation everywhere. It's not in mint mint shape, but the(mostly all) original paint still shines, the matching numbers original drive train that's not rebuilt still purrs, and the original interior is still presentable. To pass inspection, the rotten single exhaust was replaced with duals, the bogging 2bbl replaced with an edelbrock 750, and for good measure, all the brakes and suspension redone. 15" rims replaced the 14"(previous to me).The car is a 383, 2bbl, auto, triple green, buddy seat car, looks like all original glass, too! It had about 54,000 on it when I got it,now over 57k and climbing. We just love it!( Oh ya, I kept all the original pieces(except rusty exh.pipe/muffler) removed...including the old brakes, susp. parts,intake,carb/air breather)

Hehe, no General Lee for this guy( "Not that there's anything wrong with that"). Yes F8 Green, got the fender tag, broadcast sheet, and part of the window sticker, too. Also alot of the old registration slips, and oil change stickers, and stuff.

This picture and shot of your garage reminds me of the remake of Vanishing Point where the offericer is putting on the mirror to his black 68 R/T.

The one cop says to the other one we're taking the Charger. "Yeah son you think we going to catch a Mopar in a dog pie chevy, it takes a Mopar to catch a Mopar"

I love that line....

Great looking car very nice and love the dog dish caps always a favorite on Mopars.

I made a boo boo, when I put the 4 bbl intake on, the paint is the wrong Chrysler blue ...it looked good when wet, but as it dried I could tell it was wrong. Anyway, I did the valve covers at the same time after fixing a horrible oil leak, because someone had painted them flat black, and I couldn't leave them like that. So it's kinda brutal under the hood, so be for warned. I'll try to get some from underneath...there are some cool markings on the rear end...
Here's a before shot...fithy with black valve covers...

I thought it looked familiar! Great car! Love the F8 and the steelies and dog dishes ( I COULD be a little biased though! )
I would have done the exact same things (dual exhaust and 4bbl) had I bought it.

Re: 1969 Charger Survivor 57,000 miles and counting - 02/06/10 04:06 PM

Thanks for that. I dug up a couple of pics of a Charger I had back in the mid 90's. It was nearly identical to the current Charger, same green int, buckets with buddy seat, column shift. It had a black vinyl top added and had a 440 instead of original 318. Car was a blast, went on some long road trips with it. So When I found this car, it brought back alot of memories, so I just had to get it!

I liked the Centerlines with the huge rear tires that fit without sticking out. 50's on 10" rims!
