318. 904,power steering, manual brakes, clean sides except for gouge in RH fender and typical door dinges. Rust around taillights and some bubbling under top and at leaded roof seams.

Re: 72 duster - 08/23/09 04:36 AM

installed new timing chain and gears(surprised to find that the OEM nylon coated cam sprocket still looked good). Rattlecanned the engine the best I could in-car and threw on a pair of swapmeet headers and an LD4B I had laying around. Rebuilt 650DP on top. New belts, hoses,ETC. Engine seems to be sound but only time will tell.

Installed an 8.25 as a temporary rear to get the 4.5 BC for wheel and tire fitment and put on a summit 2.5 exhaust system. Next on the list: frame connectors, radiator, disc brakes on the front and probably an 8.75 rear.

Re: 72 duster - 08/23/09 05:45 AM

Thanks for the kind words guys. Not sure what my ultimate goal is with this car but my short term plan is to put some gear in it( has a 2.45 ratio now ) and see what a stock 318 with headers and an intake will do in the 1/4. I would eventually like to make it into a nice driver with a good stereo , AC and decent fuel economy, so a mildly built 360 would probably make the most sense for a future powerplant. BUT.... I am more familiar with big blocks,so who knows.

I'm in bartlesville. Funny you should say that, as a co-worker told me he saw a duster similar to mine but with the roof primered cruising around Tulsa.
