71 Turbo Dart Build - 08/05/09 02:56 AM

Been lurking for a a bit and a couple showed interest in my build.
Here is a synopsis of what has taken place so far.
I sold my 98 Z28 and went the old school route with a 71 Dart.
Went with a Dart because my first car was a 74 and I beat the hell out of that /6 and it just laughed at me.
Little did I know at the time but it was the beginning of Mopar fanaticism.

Picked up a 360 out of a 90 Ram Charger. Its sitting in the corner right now while we test and tune with the 318.

Its only keeping the sleeper beat up sh!t box look till this winter.
Then we are going to start a frame off restoration and go the pro touring route with it.

Mini tub, possibly doing a tubular K member and getting rid of the torsion bars. The torsion bars will have to go at some point or I'm stuck with a 3 inch down pipe off the turbo.

Still working on tuning and hammering the kinks out.

Re: 71 Turbo Dart Build - 08/10/09 04:50 PM

We locked the timing at 26 then took it out to have some fun.
It runs good for what it is.
Unhooked the line to the waste gate that was helping it blow off at 5psi and took it for a spin.
Just running on the smallest spring that came with the X02 waste gate and we got 12lbs of boost.
Going to have to drill out the power valve more and play with the timing before it will run at 12lbs.
It was a fun test at least.

She is a pooch until the boost builds then it takes off and there is no holding it back.

Re: 71 Turbo Dart Build - 08/11/09 04:34 PM

that thing is cool as hell! Not to be nosy or anything but ive thought about a turbo setup on my dart, about how much did it cost for the fuel system and turbo setup.
Once again, cool car

Here is a video for you guys.

And here is what the fuel system consists of.
The fuel system will support 1000hp with forced induction. My goal is to hit 600hp or more when i build the 360 that i have set a side.

I've got $5600 into the car for the turbo system and the few other things i have done.
Keep in mind there is no kit for this and everything was done in house.

It could have been done cheaper but I built it so I wouldn't ever have to redo it... hopefully.
