The 1971 RR Thrash at last! - 06/15/09 01:06 PM
This has been an ongoing project since the end of February (actually they start when you take possession of the car and ends when you sell it), but but the end of this phase is near as you see the thrash.
My friends, Larry and Chris, came down from New York to help out.

Thanks to Hemi Challenger for letting me use a shift rod since I had the wrong one. We got it running, no leaks, took it for a ride in the rain after break in, and I'm very happy right now. We need to adjust the valve for the front brakes some more , tune up the carb, get it aligned, and put on the bumper, grill, and valance.
If I can figure out how to do a video clip, I'll get one posted. It does sound good.

Andy,
Yes, I will be at Carlisle. I'm also going to be in Rochester the following Wed or Thurs on my way to the Syracuse Nationals.
440 30 over
Aries pistons .003 from deck
Stealth heads shaved 25 (9.75 comp.)
Erson cam e410060
intake .340 valve .510
exhaust .340 valve .510
244 duration
Edelbrock ch 4b duel plane manifold
Hooker 1 7/8 supper comp headers
Holley 750 DP
4-speed
3.23 rear
1971 RoadRunner
Passon did the tranny
I've had it out a couple times to make sure everything id Ok.
I'm getting it aligned and adjusting the exhaust pipes that keep rattling on my floorboard.
I still have to mess with the timing and carb adjustments. It doesn't want to idle below 1000, but that might just be the cam.

Not enough cash for overdrive, but in the future, yes
Timing @18 unless the mark is off, I have to check it out

Don't overlook the carb. I've had that problem with a couple Holleys in the past. Not sure WHAT causes it (I was young) but replacing the carbs changed the problem.
