1973 Cuda

1973 Cuda - 06/13/09 07:40 PM

1973 cuda, originally a 318 3 speed, but original motor and transmission were missing so I installled a 340 and a 4 speed. Car originally is JA5 silver frost metallic with black side stripes. It has been sitting since 1982 and has 81,432 miles on it. At one point in its life the car was converted to an automatic and had a sunroof installed. I have since put the 4 speed back in. It used to be my dads car, he bought it as a rolling shell back in the early eighties and parked it after he bought it and it has sat there ever since. I rebuilt the motor and put in a Comp XE268 cam, Edelbrock LD340 and ported 2.02 J heads. I plan on putting the 4" stroker kit in it down the road. Ive been restoring it since May 2006 and it is currently at the body shop to have the roof replaced, new quarters, trunk floor, extensions and to get painted. Body is pretty solid on the car, quarters were patched in the past and I only had to put a floor pan in on the drivers side.

Re: 1973 Cuda - 12/03/09 02:31 PM

Looks like your making good progress. Just make sure you fit all of the trim onto the car before it gets painted.

I bought all new wheelwell trim, tailpanel trim and side marker lights for the Challenger so they could be fitted to the new quarters before paint. The old quarter skins I had on the car were really bad in the side marker area. The side markers weren't even close to being in the right possition. The new full quarters are really good in around the markers. I hope they re-tooled the skins so yours will fit right.

Keep the pictures coming. You can never post too many.

Looking good!
Did you have the motor dyno tuned yet?
Posted By: 73cuda340

Re: 1973 Cuda - 03/21/13 03:07 AM

Yeah the motor is dyno tuned. It made 692 hp and 620 lb ft of torque but the motor is still breaking in. On each pull it picked up another 10-15 hp but we ran out of time on the dyno. They said when the motor is fully broken in it will be a little over 700 hp.
