Hemi A12

Hey guys, it's been a while, but I'm ready to share my newest project. I've always said an A12 or Hemi car with decent documentation(build sheet, fendertag, or both)would be my pinnacle as far as where I started from to that point of procuring one of those two options.... Alas, I found myself in a situation that I could. I have sold the 70 FJ5 Challenger that I had and the other 69 Superbee project I started a year and a half ago.... Now I own the V2, 4 speed, A12 Superbee that is #429 in the liftoff hood registry. I wanna thank Rich for working with me and allowing me to purchase his project. I do have an all A12 powertrain for this car...both motor and trans have come from two different A12 RR's. However, I'm not gonna be putting those items in the car just yet! I'm gonna have a little fun before any serious efforts will be put towards a concourse resto....
I will be using my 472 Hemi with a six pack intake and my Passon A-855 5 speed trans with the Dana 60 4.10 axle. I'm upgrading the suspension and brake systems as well. I'm also gonna run an electric fuel pump and tank assembly from Holley(very nice kit might I add)...
I'll be posting some progress pics as well as photos from the acquistition of the car from Rich(HotRod20). Stay tuned!!!!

Cool project! I regret selling my A12 Superbee 4 speed car, right before the values of them went through the roof!

I like your style. Needs a couple things to get exactly the right vibe. Put the tallest and fattest tires you can on the stock rims on the back, with your favorite period correct aluminum wheel on the front. I like the old ET slots, or Cragar SS's. That thing is just screaming for a set of those old stamped aluminum race Hemi valve covers, especially the ones with the knockouts for dual plugs. You know, the real circa-1973 street fighter vibe. Nice piece of iron.

Thanks, I'm running 15x8 steelies with 275/60's in the rear and using the 15x6.5 with 225/60's up front. I like how they fill up the wheel wells.

Update...
They are cutting in the doors and fenders, we have agreed upon a complete time frame of Feb.... Let's hope all goes well!!!! Pics coming soon.

Curious as to why you went rear drums when the fronts are not stock?

I have no issues with drum brakes for what I do.... no racing, maybe an occasional trip down the strip, but that’s rare. I do a lot of playing on the street, but that’s it. I’ve had this type of brake system in numerous cars and it’s never disappointed me. I like front disc rear drums, myself. I’ve kept all the original stuff, but I’m not a drum all the way around fan.... just my personal preference.

Well..... I'm back at it. The Hemi was moving around too much, and it was hitting shock tower along with the driver torsion bar. So....... out it came. It left for a new home and the A12 will get its RB power plant. Building a 500" RB with Trickflow 240 heads. It'll be a 10.75-1 CR 440 stroker. Pics will follow.......

Glad to see you were able to sell your Hemi. A lot of guys want one but don't want to pay what it costs to own one.

That will be a satisfying day when you get it all hooked up and running. I installed my engine from the top side earlier this year and enjoyed it all summer!

Hey guys, after cleaning and honing on the original block........ Dial bore gauge tells me I'm good to go back with standard bore original pistons.

The fact that you found your original block to make your car numbers matching is amazing! How did you find it ? Did you know a general location or did it come from the person who sold you the car ? Did you put out a want add or something ? Can you tell us more of the story? Heck of a restoration !
