left side,i will post more as i get stuff done.it would have never took this long but i had a bad motorcycle accedent in 03 while racing i got really hurt broke a bunch of stuff, got burned real bad.i had to sell my business and a bunch of other stuff move to a warmer climate n.y to fl.and the gtx just followed it sat in the back of my garage for almost 3 years before i got to work on it again.i have 2 bad disc's in my back and don't wat to get a fusion done so i can only work a little at a time, but i have a good friend that has been keeping me motivated!!hope to be driving it soon.i also have a few others that have been hanging around i decided to sell my 70 383 4 spd cuda.the way i feel i think i could never complete it!!i should have never tore it apart ,it's in the e body for sale.thanks for any advice, artie

Re: 69 gtx conv a34 4spd project - 02/07/09 02:18 PM

In your 1st post you asked how many were built, well the white book says ~178 69 GTX Converts with 4 speed built, my educated guess as far a A34 vs A33 cars would be 20-25% were A34 so at 25% that would be ~44 and at 20% ~36, how many survived life, don't know???

Awesome car by the way!!!!

Thats is one sweet ride. Can't help but like the drop top X's. One quick thought, you may want to rebuild that master cylinder before you start driving it. If its been on there for 10 years on a rebuild, it could ruin your day on it springing a leak and ruining your paint.

Had that experience on my 71 GTX. About a 10 year project and after 2 months of putting about 100 miles on it.....LEAK...and peeling paint.

Love the car, everthing about it. IMO 69 is the ultimate GTX. I had a gold/white interior 4 speed hardtop, and of course I wish I had it back.

stuck in the garage all last week its been the most rain i have seen in fl,but i got alot done on the gtx,put in all the glass, door latches, cleaned and installed the top frame cleane the lines and pump all works great i the original top frame was in great shape almost was able to save the operating instruction sticker but it fell off when i was cleaning it i did not paint it i left it original.i the weatherstriping is even soft i am going to reuse it.i am on a fixed income so anything i can save helps.i ordered seat foam for the front seats mine was very molded.the rear seat was in great shape i just hope it looks o.k with new front covers.i am going to try to install the conv top next week hope all go's well.hers a few pics

I remeber that car Ron. I looked at that car when it was for sale at 3 seperate locations(2 different owners). 1st time in Brooklyn, it had grey velour lincoln seats, he wanted 5,000. Then he move to S.I on Vista ave (dongan hills) wanted 5,500. Then sold it to another guy, it was in Mariners Harbor, behind Ballys Fitness, the new owner wanted 3,500!! I balked because it didn't have the original motor. It was about 10 yrs ago....it was b5 blue, not white. RV2... I own the White GTX convert, with blue gut, 4 speed.
