I am sure it's a known car but figured I would post. I seen it at a car show in my home town original owner one repaint in 71, motor never out!! Super nice lady owner! I could not stop looking at it !!!!really cool car!

No. those brace bars are not original on a Trans am car ( T/A or AAR). When those bars were introduced on the NASCAR racers in the late '60's they were referred to as P.I.T.A. bars (pain in the ass) because they were always in the way.

My guess would be accident. Same as my car. It's 100% original but was in accident back in the day and had to be repainted.

If you look close it looks like it has and '72 up inner fender on the drivers side and maybe no fender tags. That repair probably led to the repaint.

I don't think the whole car was painted just tops of fenders ,trunk lid ,tops of 1/4's engine was never out. I did not see any evidence of any body reapairs .

It's the bolt(rusty) on the inner fender next to the battery. My early 71 had the inner fender replaced (in the late 70s) and the replacement came with the battery hold down bolt hole just like that one. I believe the battery hold down inner fender came later in 1971?

Inner fender well replacement is never a good thing.

Looks like orange over spray on the idle stop solenoid, that is not factory.
