roadrunner progress pics - 11/26/08 04:57 PM
Some of you guys may remember about a year ago when I first bought this car I posted about it asking if it was worth the asking price. I thought I would show what I have been up to with it in the last year. Many thanks to all the members who helped me out by answering my numerous questions during the build.

I may be alone on this opinion but "worth" is in the eye of the beholder as far as I'm concerned. Unless you plan on flipping it, if you really want a car and its the only thing you can afford, (as in my case) its worth it even if it is just a labor of love. People may think you nuts but if your happy, go for it is my creedo
E. G. My dad thought this car was "worth it"

All the work was done by my best friend Tex and I with the exception of the frontend alignment and the exhaust. I'm in the process of blocking it out then I'll get the new AMD quarters ordered.

the car has some pretty cool options as well such as factory tach, am 8-track, A34 high performance axle pkg, 6/7 leafs, 054 26" rad, 489 355 s.g., all of which are still present, decor pkg, V21 hood treatment, etc.

Re: roadrunner progress pics - 12/08/08 11:34 PM
slightly better work on the other side, replaced at another point in the cars life. car will be getting a pair of amd quarters to get rid of all the previous repairs.

Re: roadrunner progress pics - 12/08/08 11:37 PM
very little rust, its a shame they didnt do a better job on the quarter replacements, I may have been able to save them.

I am working on a 68 coronet with a very similar repair. They put the quarter on like that and then did a half a$$ job pulling the rear rails. Trunk floor was an 1 1/2 away from the tail panel, they welded a piece of sheet metal over the gap......Awesome job on the RR. I remember when you bought it !

Re: roadrunner progress pics - 12/29/08 02:47 PM
Thanks guys, I'll be diggin into the quarters next month and will take lots of pics during that install which will include quarters, outter wheel houses, trunk floor, and drop offs.
The quarters are the only rust issues on the car and they have both been replaced at some point in the cars rough life, makes me wonder if the car still had its original quarters would it have rusted at all.
The outter wheel houses need replaced due to being hacked at the quarter lip for fat tires and the trunk floor needs replaced because someone chopped it up to get to the top shock bolts.

I was wondering how that deal turned out. I'm glad you got that one. Looked like a pretty good car from the pics.
Mine is an original F8 post also. I've got the new 1/4s in the garage waiting for their turn.
looking forward to more pics.
Be sure to come over to 69roadrunner.net.

new lowered stance after indytex and I installed the new leaf springs and flipped the front hangers, and I pulled the front bars down accordingly. This is exactly the look I was after.

Any new pics of the car? it looks good in primer
I'm looing at your last pic in reference to the stance of the car, how much do you think your car was lowered by flipping the spring hangers?
I'm working on a 68 and when I get there thats the stance I'll be after.

Yes: Not many cars look right in primer but 68-69 Road Runners do.

Re: roadrunner progress pics - 03/18/10 07:11 PM
I just have to ask where you got the car. I had one that looked the spitting image of that one about 20 years ago. The horrible "Green Meanie" as I affectionately called it had a 383 in it and the guy I sold it too grenaded the clutch. Is there any tell tale signs of clutches demise? The hole for the transmission was hacked up and it had a huge hole in the floor where the shifter came through.
If it is the same car it came from Hawaii and I sold it in Maryland.
