my first car was a 73 charger !! My now times car (my son calls it) is a 69 charger !! I picked up a 1974 charger very solid body . and trying to combine the two . the engine is done 1968 383 my son and I rebuilt (time with him PRICELESS he is 10 now . MY brother owns a trany shop so time was spent with him building a 727 my 3rd one !! also PRICELESS . ENG fired on the first try on my sons 9th birthday !! The only parts not removed from the car the dash and rear end !! suspention is all brand new . Everyone knows what that looks like !! SO the grille is almost done not too happy with it . I just love the hide away HL grilles .BUT I have a cuda type grille out of sheetmetal in final design . GetN ready to start on the rear, putN 1968 charger taillights and rear bumper on . Trying to make it look stock !! WELL to non car people (cheby GUYS AKA my brother)
going to open the front of the bulge hood up to copy a viper !! THE car had a brand new go wing on it when I bought it . THE good one, building my own rear window louvers out of 18 gauge sheet metal!! The door gills step down from the fenders,Everything so far un bolts , the 68 rear bumper will unbolt from the 74 bumper bracketS but the tailight panel will be welded like a 1968 ..

The car will be black with a soft cloth semi flat top the stuff used on Exotic convertbles .all chrome and stainless will b black chrome ! Under hood is looking pure stock except for the headers .Its all done gloss black and engine painted 70 orange !! The grille outer will b argent the center semi flat with a 3/8 orange bar running threw the center !! and out back orange scat pack stripe !!
Really like this idea...thought about attempting to change over to these tail lights on my Charger at some point or to the '70 Coronet style...look forward to more pics of your progress and how you have modified your doors and front fenders.
Marc, ...nice to see someone not afraid to do a custom ...I really like the layout on the doors,...your project looks to be along the lines of "Cannibal", this was a project I was hoping to build one day, looks like you beat me to it! ...keep up the good work
ben working on the rear body panel for the 68 charger bumper and tailights !! the bumper and brackets are done lots of cuting and fabing but I like it, working on the rear panel to mount the taillights its getN there. IM out of 18 gauge sheet metal over 4 feet long so its on hold til monday . I will try to post pics of the progress then .. Duty calls have to work all weekend .That pic of that charger in popular hotrod did make me have to build this car !! IM just putN my own spin on it !! And I have no idea what IM doN . actually BUILDING it is fun , and the hardest thing I have ever tried to do, make N your ideas turn to sheet metal then work on a car WOW !!! TONS OF WORK !!
