After 2 years and 2 body shops there is paint on my Bee - 03/11/12 05:24 AM

After 2 years,2 body shops and numerous trips to court my old Bee from high school finally has paint on it. In the 27 years I have known this car it finally is looking good. Now the fun of putting it together.

Thanks, if everything was as hard to get done as the paint I would never do another car.

Where are all of the "green haters"? (I'm allowed to say that since I have an F5 car myself.) Love it.

Looks great, keep feeding us the pics. This might get moved to the members project section of the board. Pretty cool you have owned it this long, give us a little history on the car and specifics. What colors are you doing?

Rick.

The funny thing is, I have not owned it this long. I sold the car in 1991 and lost track of it until 2010 when I bought it back,in about the same shape it was in when I sold it. It is a 383 4spd. car. NOM 383 built pretty stout. Black top and interior, stripe delete. I will post more pics after I pick it today.

Come on now... there are plenty of people who take their cars to shops, then expect the body men to buy all the supplies from there own pocket and think they can just show up and the car will magically be done. I feel bad for the 72 duster sitting here, but the owner must not care.

Anyways, the green looks great on there

I am a paint and body guy so I know the pains of doing that for a living. The flaky ones make everyone think we are all flaky.

Wow Congrats,
Isn't it too soon to be bolting the motor up? I see lot's of things that would be easier to do without the motor in the way?

Re: After 2 years and 2 body shops there is paint on my Bee - 03/12/12 05:52 PM

Thanks all for the compliments. Yes, there are some things that would be easier with out the engine in there, but there are changes coming at the shop I work at and not sure how long I can work on it there. So I got the engine and trans in it and the rest I can do at home in the garage if needed.

Re: After 2 years and 2 body shops there is paint on my Bee - 04/04/12 02:39 PM

Car looks great! Is it an N96 car? Man you've done alot of work in a very short period of time.

Re: bodyshops - there are good ones and bad ones; mine was great but you sure hear lots of horror stories out there. glad you got it resolved.

Mods; perhaps you can move this to the Projects section, it'll get buried quickly in General and I'd like to see more. Thx.

They are M&H Racemaster Musclecar drag tires N-50 15, No it is not an N-96 car, it had the standard bulge hood and my friend I bought the car from had cut it up in the 80's and put a prostock snorkle scoop on it which I hated. It now has a bolt on fiberglass sixpack hood going on.

Another side shot. Get the nose together, final polish, get the glass in and get the emblems on. Then I can start driving it.

All back together for her debut at Mopars at Thunder Mountain in the morning. It has been a rough couple of days getting it all back together. If it was not for my friends I would not have made it. Thanks Jeff, Graham, Bodhi and Joe. I will post some pictures of it tomorrow.

Here are some pictures of her first outting. Still some tuning to do and some small details to take care of, but it felt good to get her out finally.

Car looks great, nice job.
By the looks of the trailer is this a trailer queen or a driver?

She is a driver. Did not finish at my shop until after midnight and did not want to wake the neighbors on her first night home.

Let us know how long it takes to get the smile off your face

Awsome accomplishment when you get to fire it and move it under its own power! Good looking bee
