1972 Cuda - Missing VIN and Fender Tag - 04/16/24 01:30 AM

Here's a 1972 Cuda with a missing dash VIN and fender tag. Body work and paint look good, maybe it's a deal?

Seller's name is Tim Dolan and listed as being in Denver, Colorado. No phone number or email in the ad.

72 Plymouth Cuda
It's a basket case with a lot of good stuff
Its a 4spd car and has a rebuilt 440 and a A833 4 spd transmission
Lots of new parts
nice original grill. The trans looks to be in good shape with new seals clutch disk and rubber mounts.
Engine looks fresh also however it has been sitting for ever and will need some looking at.
The glass looks good also.
exhaust from the header back and some of the engine bay stuff are missing,
I have a clean title that matches the door and the radiator support. The fender tag and vin on the dash is missing.
The dash may have been replaced. The floor pan and rear quarters have been replaced.

Seems high for a 72 with no VIN that needs everything. I wonder how much the flipper paid for it? And it's good that he provided 2 pix of the shifter and no pix of anything else important.

Way more questions than answers.
Who loses both ID tags, to start with.
Barracuda, not 'Cuda, though compared to the rest of the mystery, not as important.

it happens all the time. I have two cars missing both, but the door tag is at least on them. friend bought a 71' CUDA from a divorce lady that her husband removed the tags knowing she couldn't sell them for much after the separation. Most common remedy is the find the body number and confirm it's not stolen. once that is done, get a state issued title for it and get the Highway Patrol to add a vin tag to the car. Not that hard and reasonably affordable. This car could make a good hotrod/drag car with a little work.

How do you know it’s not a Cuda?

Easy , in CT they looks at the number on the cowl and if it matches the paperwork it gets a sticker on the door a pillar

Pacnorth - no rear body trim.
That IS an assumption hat those holes weren't filled, though.
I owned a '74 Barracuda 340 that wasn't a 'Cuda - same deal: scooped hood but no rear panel blackout or surround moldings.

And the fact that there are no hood call out emblem holes would follow your assumption….but all that fresh yellow paint leads one to wonder what really is under all that.
