Crashed '69 RR at Copart southern Illinois location - 04/10/24 01:53 PM

Looked at it yesterday. Tubular K, coil overs, rack and pinion, 5 speed, Trick Flow heads, EFI, detailed undercarriage, nice interior, overall a very nice RR BEFORE the side got wiped out. Hagerty was the insurer. Looks like it just arrived the last week or so. They have not covered the open areas to keep rain out and this area is expected to get a lot of rain today and tomorrow. The car is not scheduled yet. That Copart location is running several months behind.

I think I'd rather start with that than a rusted hulk.

Decent hit but it does look pretty fixable. Could be a great deal depending on the price point.

My money is that car is bent pretty good. Especially the left door jam area . Gonna be tough to fix

I think it's fixable, but I am almost certain someone is going to overpay for it at the auction and it will end up being a bad deal for them.

Wonder if one could contact hagerty and buy it direct ?

Nope. Insurers have contracts with Copart and/or IAA, etc. Also, insurers are not in the business of disposing of salvage on their own. That's why they pay someone else to do it.

Look how twisted the dash is. Even the switch panel is mangled. Right rear has trouble. All down that side too. That one is a great parts car or a labor of weekend love for years for a hobbiest. Who will then never figure out why it won’t quite ever drive right. Estimate of 95k is probably high even for an undamaged car.

Cowl & firewall gotta be toast.
I'm thinking it's essentially a donor car now.

Toast anything is repairable but at what cost ,this one is just not worth it.

I have cheerish value from Hagarty. I get to keep it if totaled, its an extra charger but very minumal charge and to me worth it.

Yup...too bad, a nice Road Runner bites the dust.
Hopefully nobody got hurt in the accident.

When the back rest sits a good 5 inches out past the drivers door jam I think it might be a parts car. Est retail value at $95K. That was someone who had their car insured right.

The gap between the passenger door and fender was pulled apart and the fender juts out so the damage is more than superficial. And Copart's value estimate is often half again or even double the KBB or Edmund's evaluation. I have no idea where they typically get it. This time it may have been the insured amount since it was Hagerty. That is who we use for our specialty vehicles.

I agree I think, too it is heavily twisted

Here is for reference the fender tag of it, had it in my collection:

This car is a 'pure sale'. Which in Copart speak means it will actually sell for the high bid Wednesday which has gotten to be unusual with them. Most vehicles anymore are on a high reserve or 'on call'. Both of which just means that the seller uses the highest bid as a starting point for negotiations after the auction.

SOLD!

$21,600 was the winning bid. Plus at least $1,554 in Copart fees plus transportation.
