Grain trucks were geared pretty low and just lumbered along. Consider, also, that a lot of grain country is relatively flat.

We had an old Ford truck with a 292, 4 speed and a 2 speed rear axle. I was pretty adept at getting a run at the 1 hill I had to climb on the way into town and downshifting without losing speed. grin

Ever drive through Iowa? It ain't flat! I have problems driving my Cummins 3500 dually through there with a 44' fifth wheel! runaway Cool to see it has electronic ignition and the two speed rear!

Right out of high school in '83 I hauled newspapers for a guy, back when EVERYBODY got a Sunday paper. He had a '68 Chevy, C50 or so, with an inline 6 and 4+2. Sixteen foot steel van box that would get loaded with newspapers about 4' high every Sunday morning. It would run 65 mph on the way to load, 45 mph at WOT on the way back. Back then they were still building "over the road" long-haul trucks with gas engines, some with ridiculous displacements...

Not a truck but at work we had vans granny low 3 speeds slants. Halled lots off tile and full rolls carpet in.them.

The truck at $3250 would be a great start on a ramp truck

Shouldn't that have a poly 318 if stock? Doesn't look like poly.

Its a 1973. It should of had the LA since 1967. Also factory electronic ignition which it should have.

I didn't even notice the year. I saw the grille and assumed pre-1972
