Seller implies it's original? Looks like its been this way a long time. I know about the late '70s PU's being diesel, but never seen a car with a diesel from the factory. I'm guessing someone did this swap during the second gas crisis...... shruggy

1971 Dodge dart $12,000

Rare 1971 dodge dart diesel. All documentation dating back to new,
every receipt for anything ever done to the car. Many cool upgrades
( power windows, power breaks, power antenna ect. ) solid no rot.
Runs great and gets 35 mpg. Many extra parts included.
Nice turn key car. I can only find 2 others on the internet

I had never even heard of that until you posted it. I would love to see that in person, but Cohoes New York is a pretty far drive from Denver...but I think its pretty cool...and you would have the only one at the show.

It's too bad someone spray canned the engine compartment. What are the 2 things sticking out of the firewall, just to the left of the heater hoses? Was that for AC?

Yeah, looks like AC. If you look closely, you can see the AC vents are still in place under the dash.

I wonder just how slow it really is? (I've ridden in a microbus eek )

I actually had a 68 Dart 2-door sedan with a Nissan fork lift diesel in it, was from California. Slow as molasses but got great mileage! Glad I still don't have it...LOL..

Just a couple years ago a aspen or volare wagon was on CL with this conversion. It was cheap and ran. Had I known it were some sort of semi sanctioned conversion I would of bought it to play with. It was in good shape and under $1500. Or maybe it was a good thing I didnt.

Well I can see why they didn't sell many of them, the conversion costs more than the car laugh2 As a side note, A 904 and a 7.25 shock

Kinda dampens the idea of putting on a turbo and intercoooler.

This makes we wonder if adding a selective “Propane Boost” system would improve hill climbing performance.
The Aftermarket Bully Dog Propane boost system for Diesel Dodge Rams had noticeable boost on hills.

What could a modern knowledge of cylinder head porting do to peak output?

It costs as much as a loaded Imperial in 1971!

It needs a six inch stack with a rain cap coming through the hood!

Ive never seen a diesel though could not take a small turbo.. dakota

Looks like they already had a turbo on it. Still pretty pathetic for a turbo diesel. Unique piece and I wouldn't mind owning one, not at 5 figures though.

I had no idea about these either but it seems legit original.

What a clean car. And rear anti-sway bar. Doesn't look like the later FMJ bars. Looks more like a B body one.
