Disc conversion fit questions - 49 Dodge - 07/24/08 12:24 PM

I have a 1949 Dodge Wayfarer I am modifying with upgraded suspension, wiring, and drivetrain, while attempting to keep the car looking stock. I'm looking at a disc brake conversion kit which utlized the stock spindles. Does anyone know if the factory rims will fit and clear disc brak calipers?
Has anyone done this upgrade on a pre-50's Mopar using stock spindles?
Here is the kit I am considering:

Do you have 14s? I doubt they will work. Nothing to keep you from going with a later 14 or 15 and full covers. I don't think the early small caps will fit a late model wheel without mods.

The factory rims on it now are 15 inch.

I think your 15 x 4.5s will clear.
May I suggest a tweak? Use the stock centers and have new rims built that are wider and will clear the calipers. Keep the offset the same because if you go too far one way or the other it gets hard to steer. My '64Dog had 16 x 4.5s with dog dish hubcaps, another option.
