"fuel,oil,gas dont"

Fuel should go to full if you ground the wire back at the sending unit. Do not leave it connected straight to ground for long. 5-10 seconds should do it.

Oil is the same. Disconnect the sending unit wire, turn the ignition on and ground the wire. The gauge should go to max. This can be connected longer.

Is the third temp? If so, do the same test. It's best to have a helper in the car to turn on the key and watch the gauge while you connect the wires to ground.

As with any electrical issue, start with a fully charged battery and good connections.

Don't 61 Chryslers have electrolumenescent gauges (lighting strips, no bulbs)?

I've never messed with a 61 Chrysler, but my 67 Charger has the electrolumnescent setup. The lighting is high voltage ac, wired in series. Besides the lighting strips, the gauge pointers are "hot" as they light up too. If one gauge goes out, or there is any kind of short anywhere along the way, the oil pressure, temp and gas gauges all quit working.

If this doesn't apply to 61 Chryslers, just ignore this post.

yes,but its my understanding but that actually has nothing to do with the operation of the gauge just the lighting of the gauge

I tend to agree that it's pretty unlikely all three gauges went TU but, to eliminate the IVR as the problem, I would hook up a 6V dry cell lantern battery as a power source just to be sure.

The gauges as said are standard. They have a coating so they glow with the lights for the dash.We bought 2 NOS power packs for the lights.Rocky
