My ratrod "Concept" - 04/15/09 11:11 PM

This is what itll be close to when done. Its a late '30s early '40s chevy cab. Itll have a '40 Ford front suspention and steering and an 80s ford truck 9". A '60s Chrysler square steering wheel and a Mild 318/904 possible tunnel ram . Itll have 32-35 Ford 16"steel spoke wheels.

I have the cab pictured a set of wheels like the fronts several smallblocks to choose from a complete front '40 Ford axle drum to drum with leaf pack and the wishbone, truck 9" The 60s Mopar Steering wheel. Basically everything but the frame, Grill, not sure what rad to use, I have an 83 Dodge stepside that the cab is junk and the box needs fenders fixed or replaced and the floor of the box needs replaced(metal floor box)Im hoping 49 Plymouth tail lights have the same mounting contour as the back of The Cab My dad said to just get some metal bent to make the box.

that tach looks too modern for a ratt rod. Otherwise it looks fine.

Im not 100% on the tach yet. Havent decided what to do for the dash yet. Thought about a 51 Ford Car dash cut to fit or a 49-50 Ford car dash? The tach might end up in my race truck

Thanks. I like the way it sounds. I would have loved to get a Mopar Cab but couldnt fine one close enough or cheap enough. Theres a Shop called MacsRatz from Red Oak that sells cabs but you have to buy a chassis with the cab and a cab being the cheapest at $900 up to $2400 just for the cab and then $4000 for a frame . I have about $500-$600 in mine with all of my parts thus far. The tires are going to be cheap to. Im going to use Bias-ply because Im not going to have $600+ dollars in tires. Some guys build "RATRODS" but dont call them that because they arent rusty or they did the body work but they still built it Low and loud just like a ratrod. How many "HotRods" (20s,30s) sat an inch off the ground without fenders, especially a truck cab.

The best plan is to have all the parts, then build the frame.
Make sure you can get a title too. The paperwork side is something that tends to be ignored early on and may bite you in the end when you are trying to get it on the street.
