Here is my `59 392 Hemi powered thing a beauty

My 62 town & country. I'm on the fence on which way to go. I have a 97 1/2 ton 4x4 chassis, or look around for a 3/4 ton 2 or 4 wheel drive cummins. Not sure what way to go. Gotta finish my a-100 first.

. Nice truck! I had a 58 power wagon 30 years ago. traded it for a 68 charger, I still have it. When the weather get a little better, a guy I met has one for sale, pretty clean from the pictures he's showed me.

Twenty four years ago I bought a 58 D100. I had to buy all the cars and trucks from an estate to get that truck. I sold off one car, scrapped out 2 cars, and drove the one other truck for several months. The 58 didn't need much, I had big plans. Enter my wife's younger brother, he just has to have the cool old truck. My wife convinced me I should sell it to him, and help him get it running, which I did. Two months after I got it running, the little brat sold the truck! I think my wife was more mad then I was, and I wan't very happy.

I wouldn't mind getting another one, but this one wouldn't be leaving. It seems that when they turn up I never have money, and when I have money, I can never find one. Gene

I've always wanted a '54-'55 panel (I like the split hood). My version would have it look almost like a resto on the outside, but all modern underneath (2 wheel drive).

This is kinda what I had in mind, even the trailer!

Well, call me crazy but I went and looked at that 58 power wagon. Gonna go ahead and buy it, nice and solid truck no rust! Big back window cab. Frame and hardware rebuilt. Rebuilt 440, no trans or Driveline’s but I’ve got that covered. Now just gotta finish my a-100.

i'm betting the 54 rear end retired a bit earlier then you wanted it to.
Technically, a 54 is considered a "Functional Design Era" 1954-1956.
The "Power Giant Era" was from 1957 to 1960
And the 1961-1971 were the "Sweptline Era"
The earlier 1948-1953 were the "Pilot-House Era".
And the 1939-1947 were the "Job Rated Era".
The 1936-1938 were called the "Fore-Point Era".
The 1933-1935 were called the "Glamour Era".
Interestingly enough, the 1901-1932 were just "Dodge Trucks".

Just in case you didn't know, The Dodge brothers were parts suppliers for the 1900 auto industry. They supplied motors and transmissions for many of the car companies during that time. They also invested in the startup of the Ford Motor Company and supplied the new Ford Company with motors and transmissions. They were very wealthy men at the time. The "Job Rated" emblem on the grill of the Pilot House Still remained, it even carried on at least the through the first body style of the Functional Design trucks, about mid way through the 1955 model year. The Job Rated classifications were real popular with the Soldiers returning from WW2 and Korea. Though the company may have changed the classifications of the trucks, the Soldiers coming home were still looking for the Job Rated, so Dodge wisely kept putting the emblems on.
You will find few things on the 30s through the early 60s Dodge trucks had a definitive start and stop date, as innovations came along, they were installed on the trucks as soon as the parts became available, and those change overs could begin at a different point at each truck plants. Dodge didn't wait until the new model year to begin the new innovations.

Well.... I gave my son the panel for painting my Charger and a-100. Moved some things around in the shop. put it up on a table and started tearing it apart. going to be ladder bar at the rear and mustang 2 in the front, gen3 hemi with a single hair dryer. It never ends!

I really like your truck speeder. What engine do you have in it? Yours looks just like one from my area that belonged to a rural "neighbor" in the 60s who used to stop and give me a ride into town when I was walking to school. His was the factory orange with white wheels just like yours. I have a soft sport for these trucks.

Always nice to hear the stories related to these trucks, they are lots of fun. It makes me slow down and enjoy more, me anyway since I have been working around fast (loud) top fuel dragsters and off road trophy tucks in the past.
Al is powered by a 1957 392 Hemi that was installed by the original owner in Templeton, Cal. way before I bought it. It did not run and did not stop either so I brought it back to life trying to keep the patina in place.

I'll bet the 392 is nice and torquey. What a great "fit". I have to know about your work around off road trucks and Top Fuel dragsters. Were you part of a team supporting these?

Yes I was what they call bottom end guy for fuel, meaning when car comes in drop the pan drop the mains and check for damage then go from there. Not a glamorous job but I enjoyed it.
Baja was fun too for many years.

Having been a follower of drag racing for a very long time, I (roughly) know what you did in your role. Very neat. Not too many of us can say we've d one that!

I've got my hands full of builds right now..... but I have all the parts to make a stout lil 60 out of this.... not sure what to do!!! lol

After my friend I helped in drag racing past away I didn't want to do it anymore so I took sometime off and built my R/T to get my mind off the loss. Then another close friend knew I missed racing offered me to come with him to Mexico and race and I was hooked. Funny how totally different the two types of racing are and just as much fun.
