37 coupe pictures wanted and what do I have??? - 09/12/17 09:32 PM

Can you tell me what model this is? P???

Also, anyone here with a similar model that can post or send some pics of the door jamb area(latch), trunk latch, close up of how the door and wind out windshield weatherstripping is supposed to attach?

Any and all would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Gary

Judging from the absence of wind wings I'd say it's a P3.

According to Jim Benjaminson the lower priced P5 was the last Plymouth without vent wings. The upmarket P6 had them.

It is less expensive to use a single pane of glass than to install two in the same space, doubling mechanisms, channels, etc. The P5 and earlier got ventilation by tilting the windshield out at the bottom.

About the coupe: the same body was used from P1 1935 through P6 1938. Yours has been dechromed which hurts identification.

Look in Allpar as well as other resources to determine which one you have. I'm guessing it's a 1938 P5.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it doesn't pertain to anything I'm doing now, but it is some info for the future (if I remember). Thanks. up

Sorry for not replying sooner. Thanks for replies.

Those pics were taken the day I got the car. Told it was a Plymouth. It's actually a Dodge.

I'm needing to order glass for the doors, and of course the specific model is needed. Here's what a glass company sent to me. I can't remember seeing any mounting holes for vent windows, so I'm assuming it's a D5 with no vent windows?

Sorry for sounding dumb, but I really don't want to end up with glass that is for a different model and being stuck with it. I have to order it online. No place here to have it done.

Thanks

if I'm understanding this correctly
1937
D5 is a Dodge w/vent windows - 115"/132" wheelbase
D6 & D7 is a Plymouth body/chassis with Dodge trim - 112" wheelbase
what's the first 4-digits of the VIN?

Good luck locating the door garnish if you don't have it. The wing windows mount to it if I remember correctly. I did a 37 dodge coupe a couple years ago and looked for 6 months for door garnish moldings and gave up and made my own vent windows from lexan and mounted them in a fixed position.

Do you mean the 1 piece trim that goes around the window on the inside of the door? I have those.

Do you have aany other pics of that coupe or a link to some? I'd love to see them if you do.

Thanks

9409

Now I don't know if that's the original VIN or one given to the previous owner(s) by DNV.

That's the first 4 numbers on the VIN on the registration. Never noticed any VIN on the car itself, but never looked for one either.

I went thru all the 1936-1939 Dodge & Plymouth VINs and the ones listed from CANADA are shown below. There's a big (64,000+ VIN) gap where your VIN is & no CANADA built '37 Dodge D-5s work I wonder if they're missing from the data in this book? scope need to find an additional source
