Windshield wiper motor replacement - 08/09/16 11:12 PM

Hey gang!

I am getting ready to rewire my modified 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe in the very near future and I have decided that I would like to get a pair of electric motors for the windshield wipers. The engine is already 12v .

Anybody have any advice on where I should look for them? Is "universal" an option? I have done some light investigating and seem to keep getting pointed in the direction of Jeep motors.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The individual Jeep CJ wiper motors are a good choice. You need wipers that have about a 90 degree swing, and they have to be oriented correctly with short blades.

Most modern wipers have the wipers going in the same direction, which takes some creative doing to correct, or the ones the have the wipers sweep towards each other (like your 47 Plymouth have) have too much wiper movement and very long blades and the blades run off your glass in nearly every direction. "Specialty Power Windows" makes a very nice universal kit.
