Wiindshield crank on my truck is stuck

The windshield crank that cranks the windshield open and closed is stuck open, I lubricated it real good a few weeks ago. Can I access the mechanism if I remove the upper dash by removing the 8 upper screws and 6 lower screws?

It's been a long time since I pulled mine, but as I recall......

Pull the 2 screws that hold the arm to the windshield frame.

Remove the handle,(fold out the crank and remove the center screw under it to remove the crank).

There should be 2 screws under the chrome bezel. When those are removed the whole assembly should drop out.

This isn't for this pat of the project, it's for the doors you worked on earlier.
However, I just ran across it again and thought I share, since you always need to undo more stuff on these ol cars and trucks

Whatever Happened to the good old Impact Driver....Still Have mine from 30+ years ago and works flawlessly .... if I find a head that is too messed up I will sacrifice a tip or socket and just tack weld it on ... then hit it with he hammer and 99% of the time it's loose JM .02

i still have a snapon impact driver i bought in 1970, and still use it on occasion. however, my eye sight and hand/eye coordination ain't 'zactly like it used to be, and boy, does my hand hurt and turn funny colors when i miss my intended target. grin[one of my old man's favorite sayings was "it will fell better when it quits hurttin'...."]i'm always open to new methods that will ease the pain.

thanks for the pics ! up now, are my eyes telling me the worm gear on the toothed gear that pulls the strap [for lack of a better word] in and out slightly stripped in the middle ? or did you find something else that prevented the mechanism from working ?
