Harley powered 23 T coupe!! - 05/29/08 02:23 AM

I picked up a car tonight and the guy tells me about this 1923 Model T coupe he has and wants to show it to me. This is the coolest thing I've seen built in a long time. He said the car has 12,000 original miles and was put in dry storage in 1935. The paint on the fenders and doors is original Henry Ford black hand rubbed laquer . The guy used a Harley Davidson Screamin Eagle engine and trans. He changed it to a chain drive and then had a machine shop make the connection to the driveshaft. It uses an electric motor geared to the driveshaft for reverse and has an S-10 3:23 geared rearend. The stock front axle had a couple of springs removed and then recessed into the frame and new 5" on 5" hubs were made to fit the axle. The grill is homemade and the brake and clutch use the Harley foot pegs. He says it will run 80mph with ease and is a blast to drive. Wish I could have gone for a ride . He wants $20,000 for it and if I had that kind of stash it would be at my house in a minute

He said it was a Canadian built car because the rear fenders dont bolt to the body and he was told there may only be a couple of them in this country

Wow! That's certainly different than throwing an SBC in there.

He's got it listed on ebay right now. You should read the description and see the pics of the setup between the trans and driveshaft. Search "Harley T" and it will come up. This thing in person is absolutely over the top!! Pictures just don't do it justice. It is arrow straight and everything opens and closes like if it were new. I can't believe it's only 40 miles from my house . The same guy has a 49 Chevy hearse with a rebuilt motor and new brakes, and a 49 Chevy sedan delivery that was converted to a flower/window car. He also has a trailer made from a real coffin and a few other projects laying around.

I'd like it better if it had TWO Harley motors in it!

I've wanted to build a little rod like that, but I think I'd look for a wrecked late model moto-guzzi...1100cc hemi headed 90 degree V twin, longitudinal mounted, fuel injected, 90HP and 74 lb-ft tq, 6 speed, shaft drive, so hooking a drive shaft up should be relatively simple.
