part for old carb - 06/10/15 04:41 AM

I was working on my '57 Belvedere 6 cyl, and noticed a screw missing from the carb. Apparently it vibrated loose and fell out. It is a Carter carb 2567S. The missing screw is #1 in the attached diagram. Would anyone happen to have a "parts carb" laying around, that would be willing to help me out? Thanks in advance!

If no one has one you might try calling these guys - http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/catalog.html their inventory of parts is amazing. Not sure if they sell parts only though.

I struck out on both of the suggestions above, and also Daytona Parts. Any other ideas?

That type of bolt is called a shoulder screws, if originality isn't a concern you ought to be able to find one that will work.

If I can figure out the proper dimensions, Grainger/McMaster/Fastener may be good possibilities. Thanks for the idea!

I'd suggest doing a little measuring. First of all total length of screw. Then the thread size. Then the ID of the hole in the arm.

Find a screw long enough with the right threads. Find a bushing that fits inside the hole and over the screw. Find a washer that will keep the lever arm from sliding off. Purchase and install.

There were two barrel carbs made up through the 1970s that used a similar screw.

But you can fake one quite easily.
