Re: 39 Plymouth pick up update - 07/11/14 03:53 AM

Got the truck all wired, and ordered the air conditioning kit on order.

The truck drives great and has no weight on the rear end. so you have to watch the go peddle.

Next up after the air conditioning will be the interior. Got a quote for a little over $1000 but I need to paint the inside first.

It is licensed and insured but the first set of pictures I sent them they freaked out because there was cargo in the bed. They wont insure a classic if you haul stuff with the truck. Took the boxes out and took a picture and it's all good now.

Going to finish painting the dash tomorrow. Then the air conditioning vents and finish hooking up the controls and steering. After that it might go to upholstery if I get ambitious.

At this point we still dont know. I did the two tone on a whim. We want to keep the faded red on the outside which makes redoing the inside tough matching the patina.

More to come later today.

what ac kit did you use ? are those dash vents a "universal" type ?
Posted By: moparpollack

Re: 39 Plymouth pick up update - 12/14/14 04:45 PM

The truck got a hurricane unit from Old Air Products and the compressor and bracket is from Bouchillon Performance. The vents are generic that come with the kit. The vents will work for now unless something better comes along.

Drove the truck home from my buddy's house in the rain. No wipers were a challenge but I rainx'd the windshield before I left. I cannot wait to drive this thing when it dries up. Gonna take some scrap to the recyclers this week to see what it weights this next week.

I got a set of aluminum heads, drop the rear bumper, couple of other ways to drop the weight.

Yeah it would really be able to scoot!
