Front Harness Plug ? Suggestions?

Front Harness Plug ? Suggestions? - 03/04/12 09:47 PM

Hey Guys,
I want to make a plug in type disconnect for my front end since it is easily removable.
I have 7 wires that will need to run to the lights, horn and a ground since the "Dog House" is fiberglass.
I thought about a trailer plug, but they are large and, well, UGLY! LOL
Do any of you guys have a suggestion on what to use? I guess the headlights are the largest amperage draw, so that would be the largest capacity the plug would have to be rated for.,
I want to mount one half on the frame rail near the slider, the other would stay on the dog house hinge.
Thanks,
Mark

It might be worth a look at the help section at a part store. They may have some kind of replacement weather tight harness.

I think I would look into whats available in snow removal equipment. Most are high draw currents, but I think you will be looking at at least 2 connections, maybe 3, and they are probably ugly as well. The chassis end of the plug(s) can be hidden in a box on the chassis, but the clip ends are going to be hanging out where they can be seen. Can the plugs be concealed so they are only visible when the clip is off? That may not be so bad. Gene

Check Ron Francis wiring online. They have all kinds of different connectors.

I think this will work, and it is weather proof. It's only 6 pin, so I will need to improvise a ground possibly.
