34 Dodge Progress - 02/26/12 12:56 AM

I've been making some good progress on the coupe. Finished installing the engine, clutch, trans, and driveshaft. Installed the fuel pump, starter, brake lines, and fuel lines from the pump to the carb. Not a lot more to do and I will need to concentrate on the body.

A piece of rope for steering, a milk crate and a boat gas tank and that baby is ready for a spin around the block.

Keep up the good work.

Nice Work so far. Who did your frame and suspension????
I Wish I was where you are at with yours but I have other cars to finish first.
Looks Good.

The frame was basically built by a previous owner. I did some modifications to it. The suspension is TCI that I installed. The suspension that was on the car when I bought it was pretty hokey and just tack welded in.

Guess I'm old school, but the sight of a Ford transverse leaf spring under a Mopar is buggin' me. I'd rather see a Mustang II derived suspension or the original parallel leaf springs, but otherwise it is going to be a really sweet ride. Congratulations.

R.

Now I feel better.
And I'm aware that the MII IFS is also ford-derived but at least it's a design that isn't unique to fords.

It's a highboy. I don't think parallel leafs would look right under a highboy. Not sure that I've ever seen one. I have seen some Mustang II's on them but I like the drop tube better. But I guess thats what rodding is all about. You can pretty much do whatever you want.

Re: 34 Dodge Progress - 03/04/12 05:46 PM

Pulled the valve covers yesterday to check things out as I am considering firing the motor off in the near future. Besides the valvetrain looking very dry, no assembly lube, everything looked good. I will now be pulling the valvetrain so I can soak the lifters in oil and then lube things up and put it back together. At least the cam has lube on it. When I pulled the pan a year ago to check and retorque everything the bottom end looked really good. Here's a picture of the Hot Heads roller rockers.

Re: 34 Dodge Progress - 03/11/12 11:37 PM

I got some good time in on the coupe this weekend. I came to the conclusion I was pushing myself to get the body back on so that I could get the gauges in so that I could fire the 392 soon. Friday I decided to just make a temporary panel so I wouldn't need to put the body on yet. I made the panel out of some sheetmetal I had laying around. Put in a water temp, oil pressure, and a volt gauge. Also put in an on/off switch for 12 volt power to the ign and another on/off for the electric fuel pump. I am now just a couple of items(ordered online)and a couple of hours work from starting the Hemi! Not sure when it will happen. Here's kind of a crappy pic.
