circle track ? - 12/04/11 02:54 AM

I'm thinking of building a street stock style build (stock type suspension, stock body (relatively),360" max, 2 bbl, cast factory heads, juice cam, etc) for the local 1/3 mile dirt oval (WISSOTA track) using an 83 Plymouth Caravelle (ex cop car, it's beat to hell, not worth saving). Is there a book for dirt track Mopars I could by for suspension set up? Any guys with tips? Anything that covers the kit cars cause they are basically the same underneath. Engine would be a 360 Magnum, tranny would be the A999 that's in it, not sure about diff (I do have an 8 3/4). This is at least a couple of years off, but the build would start spring of 2012. Any tips?

Problem is with that front end t-bar choice/options are not very good. Try and find a straight bar car? Lots of circle track racers on Moparchat.

Thanks I'll check it out. So the bent torsion bar cars aren't very good for corcle track stuff?

What is the Caravelle... is that a F, M body with a
transverse torsion bar front end ... there were some
BIG diameter bars for those(very hard to find) and
use the BIG front and rear sway bars

I race a mopar in late model stock and have run street stock in the past, don`t get to stiff with spring rate and sway bar it want turn in a forty acre field. We ran a chevy style chassis with mopar engines but we ran between 750 and 900lb front springs with a 1 inch sway bar.Now in late model we run like 200lb front springs with 1 3/4 to 2 1/8 sway bar and 200 left rear and 600 right rear and crazy shocks tieing the LF down. But I no of one 1971 charger running the frank kimmel street stock deal and runs good but I bet that thing is tricked out chassis wise.I have run the mopar magnum crate engines in the past and have tons of parts and advice if you need any.

Thanks for the offer, once I get building, I'll definitely be sending you a PM
