Have you modified your pan?

In mocking up my engine and trans in the Challenger, due to moving the engine back a few inches, it looks like we are going to have to notch my center sump Moroso pan. It's interfering with the steering link. Anybody done this? Pics?

Take a look at the 4WD pans for your motor. They have sumps located to the rear of drag link.

It's a 440. I bought a nice aluminum drive shaft off of the bullet a while back that was supposed to be the perfect length for my application... the guy didn't measure correctly, though, and it came up short. I decided to go ahead and use it but I have to move my engine back almost 2" further than I had planned. Now my current pan interferes with the steering link. If I were to use that pan I would have to notch it a couple of inches on the back to clear the steering link.

If your moving the motor back why not convert the car to a front steer rack and pinion mounted in front of the K memeber and loose some weight and keep the same oil pan?

That is a good idea. The only reason that I can't do that right now is the limit of the function to the inverse of the thickness of my wallet as x approaches zero.

I noticed you stated you were MOCKING UP your engine. Have you already made your mount fabrications? Auto or stick car? Asking because of header clearance, trans dipstick location, firewall to bell housing pita. Also to mention oil pump to engine mount.

A salvage yard mustang 2 rack and some fabbed pieces does sound easier and cheaper. I also believe B Body rear leaf springs has a 1 inch shorter front segment than the e body springs.

Of course the most simple and quickest way would be to sell the wrong driveshaft and buy the right one, if your money was tight as you claim

I'm using the AndyF motor plate and a powerglide trans. The tti step headers don't have any clearance issues. The only clearance that I need to deal with is the pan and steering link.

Are there any articles or other tech that you can point me to for fabbing the M2 rack?

Also, it is a ladder bar/coilover car... no leafs.
