NOS and 6-pack

NOS and 6-pack - 11/24/11 01:50 AM

So I have a six-pack and I have meth/H2O injection under the center carb via a fogger in the 1/2" spacer. If I wanted to hit it with a small 150-200 shot could I use foggers in each of the outboard spacers?

Mechanical or vacume on the outboards? What would you use for a WOT switch?

vaccum.. I'll figure somthing out for the switch, could be run off the Meth injection switch. It's on when the vac drops to 0.

Maybe run the nitrous on a button on the shifter

As for the question, im not sure but good luck

Y'know,I would check with Wayne, username is BIGSQUEEZE.Are you sure the distribution would be equal with injecting just the outboards????????

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/25/11 03:58 AM

IMHO, I'd go with a direct port set-up, or even a hidden direct port set-up if you'd prefer, the big block 6 pack manifold has enough distribution problems, esp cylinders 6 and 7

You running cast pistons?.....

1 fogger nozzle per plate on a duel plane intake?

It's been a long time since I played with 6 packs, but I must agree with Dayclona

no Ross pistons... If I did direct I'd hide it under the intake.

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/29/11 06:24 AM

You guys are making this way too hard, since I have a 1.5 inch spacer on my mod man, 1/2 of it is the plate kit designed and still sold by holley for the end carbs mech or vac.

Im currently working on a full 1.5 inch spacer on the mod man plumbed with more or less 1/2 of a sportsman fogger kit using 4 foggers, one on each side of the end carbs.

I feel the fogger tips are years ahead of the old plate kit with a few holes, on the bench the fogger to really, well fogs, the plate kit likes to mist and drip.

Yes I could probably put newer spray bars, ect in the newer billet spacer but for now its foggers.

I will keep the pro fogger on the controller and this lil deal im gonna try a simple msd window switch and jet it for 100 so just flip a couple switches and ive a 100 shot all the time just for kicks.

I wouldnt be afraid to try this with a 1 inch spacer, 4 foggers, 2 on each end on a oem dual plane as this would be much more eff. then the old plate kit.

I honestly think my plate kit will hang on the wall, I really dont want to pass such old basic non tech parts along when there are so many newer better ways to get it done.

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/29/11 01:23 PM

so Quick, you just driled out and tapped your spacers for the foggers? I was thinking of doing that too. My primary is drilledand tapped for the meth/H2O, I was thinking I'd do the same for the outboards but w/ a NOS fogger. Just for kicks...

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/29/11 09:57 PM

No thats not what im refering to, I wouldnt trust that plate and look at the link here...

This is when I plumbed my direct port and used this spacer, along with my 1/2 inch plate kit. I let him use my pic.

Im using a spacer as shown in the link, just as the NOS brand kits its only the outter carbs for the foggers esp since on the mod man the ports are directly below.

Also using the plate in the link you can countersink the fogger to the tip depth you want it to be.

Only thing is to watch your butterfly clearence to the tip if your stuck for room.

I will try to post pics tonight so its understood better.

Also working on a plate that has most of the internal plumbing that would take the place of the fuel blocks.

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/29/11 11:14 PM

I have 1/2" spacers under my carbs much like that picture already. Are you saying get a "plate kit" for the outboards or use foggers in them? Do you have pic of your set-up?

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/30/11 04:15 AM

Hey Yuck, I'm no "expert" but I think either outboard spray bar plates or dual foggers on the outboard plates would work fine. Plates have the advantages 1.an engineer sized the solenoids & designed the kit 2.less intake/port restriction when not on the bottle (foggers restict air flow). Foggers work better on the bottle. Track only-foggers Mainly street-plates Just my

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/30/11 05:33 AM

Well I dont need to be an expert to tell the same noids that came with the org plate kit are the same noids used on the smaller fogger kit x2. Same noids on the 4 banger fogger kit x1 for 4 foggers.

Even different brands of noids is not an issue, as long as it all flows right.

THE SIX PACK PLATE KIT FROM HOLLEY ONLY IS FOR THE OUTBOARDS AND NEVER WERE FOR THE CENTER.

IM not going for the two 40 year old brass bars in each outter plate with a few small holes produces a better mixture then a fogger tip.

Look where the red X is in the pic.....but with a 1.5 inch plate it will be a hair higher. and the black plate kit will be gone.

Working...Plate and Fogger Kit.

Now ya ready to see the intercooled procharged/six pack/and nitrous setup??

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/30/11 05:47 AM

I plumbed and ran this hidden kit for several years on a oem small block six pack, still old school pig tips, I kept the same 34/36 tips and toned it down equally with big restrictors right at the inlet.

Never an issue, then went to the mini controller.

Only issue ive ever had was a micro switch stick...bad.

I wouldnt use a under the intake kit on a street car, seen many leaks, gummed up lines, and then worse, and I think are getting to be more left in the past...

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/30/11 01:48 PM

Hey yuck nos makes a kit for six pak intakes. Had a set up on a 340 six pak setup worked nice would spray 175hp. It has two plates on the outside carbs and a spacer in the center. It used cheater soleniods and could go to 250hp. Now on a 318 magmun with factory beerbarrel and later a m1 mpi intake I but two fogger nozzles in the air cleaner and would run 175hp on that stockbottom end till 181,000mi when I sold it.

Thanks 67, I know they make a kit, however I was trying to save some cash. I think the 6-pack kit is over $650. I already have the spacers..just thought I could piece something together.

my what??? lol I guess I'll have to do some reading. Still not sure if I'm going to do it, I guess it will depend on cost.

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 11/30/11 04:01 PM

If your just going to try to use one fogger per end which I wouldnt do myself why not just use the 40 year old plate kit from holley????? Which I dont think the any longer sell.

I will sell you my old plates cheaper then you can buy two foggers and plumb them. Id almost give the old outdated things away.

Remember a fogger hp is the jet combo x8, and then your on a dual plane intake? Dont the BB have the dividers in the intake like the small block, cant see all being equal.

I cant see how budjet/cheap and nitrous fit in the same picture.

Id consider somthing like a msd window switch since you dont need a controller vs a micro switch..esp since you street drive.

Good luck!

my spacers are open. I would think the fogger would mist/distribute the mixture fine??? Not against the plate system. PM the details on what you have...
wonder how it would inter-act w/ the Meth/H2O....

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 12/02/11 10:47 PM

Here is my weekend project. Ive a few diff style tips so im gonna test spray them to see the pattern and then determine where to put them depth and angle wise.

Since this is on the open plenum mod man and not a dual plane im gonna run six foggers and find a ratio that works for the center carb jetting as it dumps right into the same open plenum.

I plan to just go very easy and read the plugs and slowly turn it up.

Got the plate from Ben today...he makes awsome parts.

why don't you just open up each plenum, that way you could go w/ 3?

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 12/03/11 05:23 PM

Yuck that may work on a oem intake, who knows..the mod man is a simple straight forward single plane with a semi big plemum.

I use the spacers with the dividers for a reason, motor is built for spray so the more the better, but mostly I dont see how things could be as equal with 1 vs 2 no matter how much the tip flows when it comes to each cylinder getting an equal mix.

But I just go by trial and error....go for the single tip and let us know what pops. Bad word, I meant how it runs.

I did a plate system from NOS and burnt up a couple of pistons due to the poor fuel distrubition of a stock 6-pak the fuel falls out of suspension and never makes it to the cylinder but the nitrous dose

How much were you spraying and how much timing were you running?? Do you have a picture of the piston/pistons??

Re: NOS and 6-pack - 12/04/11 05:16 PM

Was it a BB or small block? Ive had really good luck with the oem small block intakes and the older holley plate kit, only issue I ever had was an error on my part. (stuck micro switch).

The mod man with the spacers let me go one step further and I lost nothing down low. The oem stopped pulling about 6800, with a 7600 chip it will pull that and seems to want more, but thats the max on this motor.

No pics on the pistons but the piston had a hole right in the center that you could have droped a golf ball through this was with a 150 shot with 30deg total and this is on a small block
