Hemi Guys...what'll it make ? - 11/23/11 07:17 AM

Fresh 572" Combo in a street/strip appn is as follows:

Hemi mega block 4.5" bore - o-ringed
4.5" Crower Ultra-lite crank
Oliver rods
12.5:1 CP lightweight pistons - gas ported
Sealed Power rings
ARP rod, crank, head studs, oil pan studs, flywheel bolts
Crower roller 689/652" lift 278/285 @ .050" & Crower lifters
MP heads ported with Ferrea 2.3" intake
Dick Landy rollers
Mallory dist
Indy port SP intake
1050 Dom (have an 1150 as well)
Billet electric water pump
Milodon ext dual line swinging pickup and pump

Anhy thoughts on HP/TQ estimates ?
Will duration @ .050" allow pump gas (marginal I know)
What would you change?

Hemi guys fire away....

Thx

No way an expert but comparing it to mine I would guess around 800-850 hp depending on the level of porting and final compression. Also would suggest the 1150 dominator but that's an easy try as you already have it.
Sounds like an low maintenance dependable street strip combo

what do the heads flow ? more they flow the better u go !!! LOL 700-750 hp cam looks good more lift if the heads flow up there !!

I think it'll depend on the heads. Who ported them?
Sounds VERY similar to mine, but w/ more compression. Definitely use the 1150 carb.
Ought to make 800+ easily if the heads are good.

+850hp for sure.

Typically the exhaust valve has to be rotated a couple of degrees for clearance to clear that size intake valve, who offers MP heads with that size valve? I thought Stage V and Indy were the only ones. You also have 1 more point of compression than mine, but your cam and intake are milder. That engine will be a beast if those heads flow what the others do with that size valve! As far as pump gas goes, until you get it sorted out, I would limit timing to 34* and run 50/50 mix. It will be very close, but it might make it. Is it in an aluminum block, I am assuming no because you said mega block? Wish mine had 2.30" intake valves...

That big Hemi with that little cam is going to be a torque monster.

I'll say 860 horse at 6500, 760 ft lbs at 4800, with a torque curve flat enuff to make a pool table blush.

Interestinmg comments guys

I was leaning to the 1150, any recommendations on a decent carb builder as well ?

I don't have the flow spex on the heads as yet. So you guys think I can get away with 34 deg total with 50/50 mix?

Also with that cam, what would the rpm range be in a 572 Hemi and what convertor/gearing would suit with a 727 in an A body. Gearing is flexible !!

Lastly, would the Crower lifters last on the street with that cam/spring combo and do I need different lifters ie: Isky red zone ?

Thanx for the input fellas....

820-825, Only thing that will be holding you back are those heads.
Cam is a little small but not too bad.

Are you actually going to put it on an engine dyno so we will find out? Without more head flow info, I would say 740hp.

If I get my grubby little mits on this engine yeah it'll go on the dyno !!

Without the flow spex, it'll be harder to estimate HP/TQ.

Keep em comin fellas.
