I have a set of NOS stamped rocker arms, I was wondering if they were OK to use with this cam....

I don't see why not. Have a 440 here w/ the 509/292 MP purpleshaft cam and stock rockers. Been that way for 10 years or more w/ a lot of hard miles on it.

How do you think this cam would work on a 383 with stock ported heads and about 10:1 compression?

I'm using that exact cam with stock stamped rockers currently. Also used them on my 509 cam with no issues either.

From my experience w/ 383's, I'd say not to use that much cam in it unless you have a lot of stall and a lot of gear. Even then, it's gonna be a dud down low w/ only 10:1 compression. It'll sound nasty, but that's about it.

Then what would be a better cam choice for the 383?

So far I like it. Has more low end than the 509 (which is what I wanted) and has a nice lope. I've got a stock stroke 440 with 440 source heads and six pack. Engine is 60 over with 10.5 compression. I've got 4.10 gears and an old Turbo Action J converter (want to change both of those out later).
I agree that it may be too much for a 383 without a lot of gear and a big stall--no fun on the street.

Check out the Hughes Whiplash cam. I run it in my 383. Has just as much out of the hole as the 262 CopmCam cam I was running, but from 3000 to 6000 RPM it rocks. Right now I'm running a 2500 stall converter. Will be changing to a 3500 stall soon. The heads on my engine are ported and blended 346, three angle 2.08/1.74 valve job. 3.73 gears. I'm running stock stamped steel rocker.
