I know what the lowband apply but whats the diff between ball and no ball? is that for downshift harshness.

LOL I dont know but if you look at crt,a&a and others they have 2 diff rev manual low band apply valvebodies.

it looks like a street and they also have a race manual v/b both are low band on.

I believe the ball/no ball refers to a check ball placed in the rear servo apply circuit to slow down the band apply so it doesn't "thunk" hard when downshifting to 1st on a slow roll.

I can't think of as single downside to slowing down the rear servo apply, the factory even did it in later years to prevent breakage. The check ball allows a quick release on the upshift and that's always good.
