Sorry to hear that!! Another Track taken away from us. And they wonder why people are out there street racing.
I know the feeling...we don't have a track here on Long Island now for about 7 years, and we have to cross 2 bridges and pay about $50 in tolls just to get to a track.
2 of the main players live within a mile of the track.Lets just say we will drive by Sat including a nostalgia FC.Theres so much government BS going on its not even funny.
They were forced to accept the sale or the city would condemn the land. City says they will help with finding a new location but we all know that will never happen. The way this went down is dirty, plain and simple. They had a buyer for the strip that would upgrade it and keep it open. Thats when the city threatened to condemn the land. This is abuse of there power and as close to eminate domain abuse as it gets. the city does not keep what parks they have maintained. Besides the Vamp series a lot of junior dragsters are now with no place to run. It's BS and it makes me sick.
I raced at KCIR a couple times. It was a nice small time track. Was there for one of their "Fox Hunt" events. Contestants appeared to be 3 strippers and 2 hookers. It was great.
Sad news indeed. Keep Wichita in mind as I know they have had some struggles this year too given the economy. I'm sure they'd welcome any/all racers whose home track was KCIR.
The city will never work with them to find a new location. Maybe if the streets of the city become dragstrips on Fri-Sat nights that would stir some interest on the part of the politicians to find a new place. Just thinkin out loud.
Can you give us information on who we can call/write/e-mail to try and change their mind!! This seems like a bad dream!! Although we are from eastern Ohio, we have raced at your facility and it was an OK track and definately should not be put out of business. Can you get any help from the Chamber of Commerce - I know that when we raced their, we stayed at a motel three nights, ate at local restraunts, bought gas and stopped at Wal-Mart to buy something. We would not have done any of these things if it were to visit a park!!! And who would go their from out of state to visit a park that has nothing to offer and after a few years, they like most parks will not have the tax dollars to keep it clean and useful???? GOOD LUCK - HOPE IT'S NOT TOO LATE -HEMI JOE
Oh great...first Gateway, now KCIR. Did I mention these are the closest tracks to me. AT 135 MILES AWAY!!! I can only hope the new track (MARP) at New Florence really makes a go of it. Fingers crossed.
