wouyld like some input 11 sec b body weights 3150 race only. right now i have poly lock mounts and shumacher torque strap.the header is hitting the right shock tower on launch and i bent the torque strap car 60 ft is 1.54 runs 11.30,s solid mounts would be easier but? before i

When our 70 B Body was running low 11's we had solid motor mounts and had no trouble with the headers hitting the shock towers. We also 60 ft. in the 1.50's at the time. that would seem to be the easy way to go. Running a motor plate is more involved with the water pump and 2 sets of gaskets and shimming the alternator and fan if you are running these.

thanks for the reply mike. i am looking for a fix to run next season after that the motor comes out and the new stroker motor gos in with plates. hopefuly it will live thru the year!

When my car did that, the motor mount on the passenger side was pooched. It wasn't torn, it just allowed a lot of movement. A new mount, and no more hitting the shock tower. This was on a '66 Satellite.

My car is a street car so I use just a solid mount on the drivers side and it works good without much vibration. I just use the chain as backup just in case. Ron

Solids are nice if your running stockish accessories. I prefer a plate because its easier to get the engine in and out and does not come anywhere near the headers. The Schumacher stuff is over priced junk.

I say put a plate in it now and be done w/ it. Much easier to R&R the engine and real nice to mount stuff on. Don't use gaskets for the water pump, just use silicone.

He'll have to get a low mount kit. I think he was asking about going to an electric water pump a week or 2 ago, so belt/pulley alignment won't be an issue.

i did put the elecric pump and low mount alt on already im thinking maybe just bite the bullit and do the plate ok next question who"s plate was not impresed by competion engeneering or summit and jegs.mancini however has one made from t-6 3/8 thick cut on a water jet anybody run one? thanks for the replys 383 man are you going to hagerstown?

did you use the mopar alt or did you have to get a special alt.?

I just use the Comp Engineering plates on mine. No need for the thicker plates in my opinion. I like the fact that the CE plates are one big sheet w/ no holes in it so you can cut it to fit how you want it and can mount stuff all over it.

Supposedly, mounts cost power compared to a plate due to cylinder wall flex and reduced ring seal. Not sure what power levels this would begin at though.

We do. Check us out at www.aeicnc.com

We've made plates for a lot of guys here. This is a 3/8" plate we made for a big block Mopar. You can't see a lot of the plate itself, but as you can see, you can mount everything you need on it.

All the engine mounting holes are in it, you just bolt it up and drop it in.

i used a denso alt 55 amp and the low mount came from mancini
