Re: new build - 10/24/11 10:52 PM

What rear gear and rear tires and what size engine is in it now? The reason I ask these questions is my dragster had a 700 hp engine with 17x33-15 tires, run dead on the # everytime. I put my big engine in it & it would not go down the track. It took me many months & $$$$ to get it right, hope you do not have to go through all that. When you get everything right 6.98-7.06. It's worth every $$$ to be able to out-run them big block chevies heads-up.
PS don't let anyone tell you it won't repeat the # with the big engine. And when they see the Big # it will run when you line up beside them if they don't go Red on the tree, when they get about 1/2 track and look back and see how far back you are...then they will give you the race. On alcohol it would not hurt to bump the CR up another 2 points.
PS a Big engine is nice but be prepared it will break parts that you did not even know you had.

Re: new build - 10/25/11 01:14 PM

I am hoping the drive train is good enough, jw a&a glide with all the goodies,a mw center and axels wheel and tires are 16 inch 17 34.5 the guy who had the car before me top dragster raced it with a big chevy 1100 hp went high 6's.Hoping to run some jegs super quick and some local quick stuff. Also its a 235 inch 6.0 cert car, just hoping it will lay down some good numbers,my 520 was deadly in this car but couldn't always qualify hope I didn't make a mistake by going this big

Re: new build - 10/25/11 02:34 PM

If it was set-up for a 1100 hp engine you should be in great shape. You already have the right size tires just get the converter and tune-up right and put about 30 lbs of weight in the very end of the nose. You will have no regrets!!!

Re: new build - 10/25/11 02:55 PM

It had a weight box in the nose when I bought it and I took it out (little motor)I guess I will have to dig it out of storage.

Re: new build - 10/25/11 05:33 PM

Is it going to be 2 carbs or one?

Re: new build - 10/25/11 06:35 PM

Just one, I am not a all out et guy just want to qualify anywhere I want and still be able to put people on the trailer on a regular basis.

Re: new build - 10/25/11 06:38 PM

It use to be fun at the track to throw in a dollar and guess the best et of a new combo at the track for the first time hope to see everyone next year for that bet.

I'm just a small block guy and may not be qualified to comment on this but I can tell you my tunnel ram is deadly consistent over the single 4. Even on race gas I can just about Zerox the time slip round after round.

What kind of power do Pete and Chuck think it will make on 1 carb, did they say? I know that most engine builders don't like to commit, but I thought I'd ask.

1000 range, I will be happy with 4.60's 1/8 7.20's quarter I hate to talk hp numbers on moparts you will get attacked from people who read allot of mags who say your numbers are too low and engine builder want to bees who say too high.If it goes 4.60's and lives for more than 300 laps without failure you won't be able to air hammer the smile off my face.

There's no doubt about the HP#'s getting thrown all over the place here. I will tell you what I have, and you decide. My car is 1850#'s with me in it, I run 2 B-1 572's, 15-1 comp., aluminum rods, Ti intakes, with B1 original's. I've gone as fast as 7.32@181 in 1800ft elevation with 16" tire and a wing. I'm sure I could have gone a tenth faster without the wing and 15" tires, but it would have been a wild ride. I'm thinking you'll make at least 50-75 more HP than me with the M/C heads and 2.400 intake valve. And with you being 100#'s lighter, it should go 7.0's on the right tune up and last for 300 runs with normal maintinance, but if you are using steel rods, maybe slightly slower, like .05. But both of mine have been very trouble free race engines, and I think you will love the B1 596 deal. Good luck, and welcome to the "I can spend more money than you and not feel guilty, mostly Chevy" crowd.

Re: new build - 10/26/11 03:17 AM

cant really compare apples and oranges, there is a guy here with a 598 chevy and at 2100lbs he runs hi 4.6x to 4.70

if flow numbers are close you should be in the hunt.

From the looks of your numbers your 528 makes plenty of steam its self at 3000 lbs. That thing would be bad ass in a open wheel car.
