What ever happend to the motor John Mahoney had? Last I read,(years ago) he was going to get it running and install it in a period correct car. I never heard a word after that. Does he still have it, did he ever get it running, what became of it?
It would be really interesting to see what kind of hp it could make and how well it ran. Dave

He still has it. Not for sure what his plans are with it, but it sure is an awesome piece of history!

JD; If you google it you'll find a couple old magazine articles about the motor. It was Chryslers answer to the Ferd 427 SOHC. The project was canceled after Bill France nixed both Ferds and Chryslers overhead cam engines for Nascar. The motor never even ran under it's own power, as far as they got was motoring the engine to test the valve train. Dave

As far as I know, John still has it, I don't know if the lifter trays and broken valvetrain pieces have been replicated yet. At one time, he had a 64 hardtop Plymouth to install the finished engine in.

I remember seeing some of that stuff. Just before I was drafted I was working at DragCraft(Dave Duncan - knew ALL of the Nascar guys at the time) ...a shop on Telegraph Rd in Dearborn Heights... just north of Ford Rd. He had a deal with someone in Highland Park getting some of this odd-ball salvage or OVERrun stuff.

Example .... we used MAX WEDGE and Hemi exh mans to hold-down tarps of stuff that was covered out in the yard.
