What would it take?

What do you think it would take to get street/strip 87 Dakota long box into the low 9's high 8's? What big block combo would you run? It has to run on 91 octane pump gas. Also what rear suspension would you run? Caltracs, Ladder bar, or 4 link?

Thanks

If it was me I would use the existing engine for those short trips to the store and install a jet engine for those nightly street races. Throw the truck in neutral hit the switch and really impress your friends.

We will say you get the weight down to 3000#... if
so you need about 800 hp to get there... on 91 pump
gas.... your asking alot... I would use a 4 link

For those #'s I don't think cal-tracs will work. You're going to have to step it up. Plus PU's don't hook that great w/ stock springs. As for motor, I'd probably do a boosted BB, either a 440 or a stroked 400. My friends seem to love the 400-472ci engines.

Well thanks guys. I had been contemplating doing a 500" with a 91 or 106mm turbo. I would be able to get some race gas for the strip but would have to run pump fuel on the street.
