Best header for Volare with 440

Best header for Volare with 440 - 09/21/11 06:18 PM

I have recently swapped a 440 in my 1980 Volare and was hoping someone can tell me what brand of header will fit without major dents to the pipes. I tried a used set of Hooker Super Comps.and they hit passenger side inner fender well and on the drivers side the rear pipe would have to be beat halfway closed to clear the steering coupler. If anyone here has made this swap what header did you use? Thank you.

Call TTi to see if they have any suggestions. I don't know of a header made for that application but the guys at TTi might have an idea if anything exists.

I checked with TTI and they didn't have any suggestions either. Thanx for the reply.

Mopar Action did an article on this years ago. They used B body headers, don't remember the brand. They put an extra joint in the steering shaft.

I welded a tube on mine to extend the shaft for a non ps gearbox I put on, so that wasn't an issue for me.

Hooker "competition" headers...... NOT "super competition headers". B body. I used the "super comps" on my Mirada and it tooks some work.

We just installed a pair of Hooker 1 7/8s A Body fenderwell headers.Once you get back part of the inner fenderwell cut they fit and take no time to install.

I have done both.Low deck with Indy heads and 440 with stock heads.I see no problem with any combo.

Do you have any pics of the areas that need to be cut? Thanks in advance.
