Trying to Qualify for the CRT 10.00 shoot out...... - 09/17/11 06:37 PM

First I get a TT for the Pro class and it goes a 10.49.

I think OK If I can cut a light I can hold on some.

Then we get the qualifying runs.

First pass I get held up as someone let some anti freeze in the shut down area. When we re lite em and do another burn out the engine temp is up to 175 instead of 160.

Dam things runs a 9.996@131.61. A new personal best but dam now I'm in the bottom of the ladder for going under

So, 2nd qualifier I decide I'm gonna short shift it by 200 RPM and that should put me right there.

NOPE.It decides to run a 9.985@131.55.

WTH. I'm trying to slow down and run a new best

Only me right

I think your right Raff.

I ended running Lonnie in the 10.0 and slept on the tree. I also didn't have the oil temp up as high (only in the 120ish range) and the car ran a 10.049

Made sure I got the water to 180 and the oil to 150 for the first round of no box and it picked back up and ran a 10.000@132.09.

Ive really learned a lot in just today's runs.

That would have been nice in the 10-oh shoot out. I watch water, oil, and trans temp to fine tune the ET. In cool weather (50's) it can be a challenge to get them the same every round, so once you start making laps and the oil temp goes up, I dial lower.

In that cool weather, I have been known to even warm the water up to 190-200 and shut it down to heat soak before they call up my class. Just to get some heat in the oil.
Alky likes some water temp, 160 minimum, and 170-180 is fine.

Oil pan heaters and lean out valves ROCK

DA went down to 1161 and I got the heat in it for rnd 2 of no box. He went RED and I put down another personal best of 9.976@131.88

With a .007 light no less. I could get used to this going rounds
