Small Block heads and BIG Valves?! - 09/16/11 03:16 PM
What heads for a Small Block will accommodate a 2.21" intake valve, and actually have the runner volume to use it?
I think a W9 and W8 will.
Maybe Indy 360-1?
Any others?

I have 2.25 intake valves and if I remember correctly 1.55 exhausts in my Nickens W8 s
my CFE heads have slightly smaller intakes, don t have my notes here now but maybe 2.225

My CFE W8's had 2.25" intake and a 1.55" exhaust. I think you can do this with any raw cast W7-9 head. You just have to give up some exhaust valve. With a 4.185" bore that is. If you are running 4.240+ you can run the big intake and still have room for a big exhaust valve.
It is very normal to find circle track heads with 2.200" intake valves and 1.625" exhaust. They still have a lot of meat int the ports too. To handle that boost.

Thanks guys!!
Pretty much what I was thinking!! W8 & W9s will do it.
Was just curios if the Indy's or Brodix would.
The W9-RPs that I have now have 2.20" in the Int.; don't remember the exhaust.
I have a pair of Untouched regular W9's on the shelf, I was just brain storming about.
Using a formula I found for sizing Valves to the Bore diameter. Looked like this = 52% of bore size for intake valve and 72-73% of Int Valve size for Exhaust valve.
IF I had a bore of 2.250 which an R3-siamese will go out to. I would need 2.21" Int and 1.59-1.61" exhaust to fulfill that equation.
Guess I got too much time on my hands!!! LOL!!
