trying to stop the support from galling to rear drum on my 999 i machined two grooves in it for oil unit has an A&A LBA clean neut vb if that matters.i also have a 90* cooler fitting in rear of trans but dont think thats the problem.

This is a common problem on 904s (at least for me).The most common cure is to bore the bushing for a needle bearing and turn the output shaft for the proper clearance.I've also added some additional oil groves.A&A as well as other performance companies offer the parts modified and ready to bolt in.

Rollerizing the output shaft won't help galling of the rear band drum to the support; the 727 can have the rear drum rollerized but I don't know of anybody doing it for the 904.

Moly coating the support like SMR offers might help.

John you know torqueflites beter than I do.All I can say is it has cured the problem for me.I originally did mine and added oil groves and added an oil hole and bored it and installed a needle bearing and had the shaft turned to fit.There is a pic of a simular unit at A&As website
