That was Melvins car. He is a member on here. Car runs 5.70 or better in the 1/8th normally so it runs real good. He is also a heck of a nice guy.

That is a nice Duster! You'd never know it was that quick by looking at the motor.
1.575 has always been dead on for almost every car I've calculated, as far as 1/8 to 1/4 conversion. The super quick cars may use a different number because of the top end charge.

Ken (the Texas race cars chassis builder guy, I think...) is such a hard core Chevy guy. And, that's OK, to a point. Usually the more involved with race cars someone becomes the more that blind loyalty dissipates. Even if he's exclusively a T/S, super class and P/M style builder, I've never seen such ignorance about other mainstream classes. He once asked a guy with a super stocker if he was using a throttle stop. And recently, he guessed the ET of a AA/S '67 Fairlane to be nearly a full second slower than an I/SA Chevelle in back to back passes. Sorry, Ken, but there ain't that much bowtie magic in the world.
But, it's all in fun I guess and much better than watching yet another NASCAR show.

It must be like a chicken bone in the throat for those people to actually have to put a Chrysler product on the show.

Re: 75 Duster on pass time - 09/08/11 04:07 AM
He said in another thread the hood was custom made
That was a great looking car, and sounded nice...I think even Ken mentioned how good it sounded.
I thought he ws immediately in trouble on his burn out. I think he WAY overheated the tires and he would be spinning right from the git go. That being said, they love burn outs on that show, so I suspect he was giving them a little " eye candy" there. I would have liked to see it run the whole 1320 for sure....but great car and glad to see it on TV....

I've been 5.52 in the true 1/8 mile with a 1.20 sixty foot don't know what that would be in the 1/4 thanks for all the kind words. Sorry to respond so late. I don't have much time so I hardly get on any boards now days. The hood stated life as a 3" Cowel then we customized it to what y'all see.
