I wasnt there but a good friend saw it. He said it hit so hard it wrecked the concrete barrier and they closed the track for the day until they got the barrier replaced. That really sucks! What happened.

So he found out racing rheumatism sucks

So did his 35 year old seatbelts fail or had he updated?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Not sure on the causes yet, He is 62 and is pretty sore, shook him up a bit and frightened the hell out of his wife and grandkids who were also there.
He hasn't raced in a long time but used to run a B/MP car nationally in the 70's after returning from vietnam.
Compared to the first message i received from his wife, very dramatic, the second one from him, played down the accident. He is a very hardy guy anyway.
Car has ran 12.81 at 110.

Best wish's to him and the Vett.

I hope he's OK...the Vette looks like it's a total write off.

Folks throw numbers and ET's around on this board like they are meaningless, it is easy to forget just how quick and fast one is really talking about. A twelve second car is plenty fast enough to get someone hurt real bad.

Sorry to hear that........Glad he's O.K. , but the car looks bad.
12 seconds is a pretty stout street car in reality.
I know there are much faster cars with tags on them , but if your sled is capable of 12's , you are significantly faster than 99.9% of the cars you pass.
Getting into trouble in one happens too.........typically after something broke , but the wallop is still pretty strong.

We visited them in 91 and he had the car then but no interest in racing at that time.
He's now retired, pulled the car out and stepped the motor up a little, i hope he doesn't go back into retirement again.

I'm hoping he'll tell me when he finds out, his wife tells me he was apologising to people because they closed the track after the accident, she would like him to stop racing.
I know he's not a mopar racer but thanks for showing your concern.

HI Steve
We did the florida thing about 5 yrs ago, i also went to bradenton but i'm planning on another visit, maybe next year.
If i'd known you were coming here, we could have hooked up somewhere.

Might make another trip across the pond, lot of things to see in merry old England, had a great time. It was to bad that Santa Pod was rained out the day I drove up there.

Someone said he went to click it into neutral at the end of the run and clicked it into reverse. I dont know if that is true, Just what I heard.

Matthew
He may be a little embarassed to admit that so i will wait to see if he comes back to me with anything. How would that person know that, would a car that old have reversing lights ?, please keep me in the loop if you would.
Steve
If you decide to come over again, let me know when you might be coming and i'll fill you in with any event details.
If you come by Nottm for a couple days we can always find room for you and your wife, providing we are not away ourselves.

Thanks for the compliment, it's no show car but i'm fairly happy with it.
