Lickity Split,the worlds slowest build,with "newer"pics - 08/29/11 02:23 AM

My wife has put up with a crummy kitchen for ever. How long? The appliances were harvest gold. So we've been remodeling our kitchen all the way down to the studs. With that nearly done it's back to the car. Its rubbed, body panels aligned, suspension installed. I'll let the pictures tell the story.

I must say... That is a really clean setup you have there. The cage fits tight to the lines in the car. Looks like no surface has been left untouched. Not sure about the Bondobob bit though.

Would like to see details of your quick release steering wheel. If it is not top secret.

This is the first cage I have ever built. I made templates and a buddy bent the main parts, I bent the smaller bends and fitted all the tubes. The wheel uses the original hub that is pot metal. The release hub is a unknown swap meet special. Steering wheel was drilled to the hubs bolt pattern. I fabbed a 1/8" aluminum disc that was welded to the hub. The factory pot metal hub was gutted and epoxied to the aluminum disc. It serves no function except to look factory. The button protrudes thru a hole where the old 3 on the tree stick was attached.

Very funny. And no it has a regular race box at the top of the cage. And for those of you who don't know. If you ever forget your keys for a car with a column lock, bring Dizuster with you. 3 hours away at Martin for the Chrysler Classic he unlocked the trunk and ignition with-in 5 minutes so I was able to race.

2014 , 2012 what's the difference. Scott took the motor box for that little small block . I will bring the rest down when you get that show car home from (master painter Ted smith). for the big show on the stainless. Gary will be ready with the (cotton picker show / race car in 2012 (Line um up ) . No one wants to see pics of a ugly a-- 62 dodge. I know my 30 day got streached a bit, but I'm still 4 1/2 years ahead of you. Who will hit the track first ? That's all that matters right. We need to all finish before Coleman gets board of racing by him self and sells it all.

I got about half of the stainless polished and installed over the weekend. Bent the right drip rail installing it. Got it off straightened, re-polished ,and installed. All the aftermarket trim clips for the body side moldings are to big. The trim won't snap over them. Spent the last 2 nights trimming each clip with a razor blade, all 34 of them. 2nd problem is that the fenders came off a Fury. And yes Ma Mopar drilled the Fury trim clip holes 1/4" lower than a Belvedere. I knew this before paint. I figured a way to modify the bolt on clips to center the trim. Just all takes time. Still got to buff the long quarter trims,Scary. More pics this weekend. Oh ya got to get my street car ready for its as assault on the pro class at Norwalk next week. I've been so busy the last time it ran was Norwalk last year.

Here's one pic. This is what the right quarter started out as.

My wife thought that color (or a very similar one) would look good on an early B-body when we were talking about paint the other night.

I told her she was crazy, that it didn't go well with early B-bodys.

Thanks, I now have to eat my words...

It actually gets American 200-S. There not done being restored yet. My thought is to paint the spokes a very dark candy brown. Like a beer bottle. I'll have to test one out and see how it looks. I'll be using 31x10.5W, the ones on the car now are 10.5x29.5.

Looks like a Wilwood kit. I've made them fit stock columns by cutting the center out of a stock wheel and machining the hub into a hex; the stock splines fit the steering shaft, and the hex mounts the Wilwood wheel adapter.

I didn't run the stock shaft. It's a piece of.750" chrome moly tube with a hex welded on one end and a flaming river U-joint on the other. The wheel was drilled and bolted to the adapter.

I saw that. I was answering Leons question about the brand of kit, and offering a suggestion on how to use them with a stock column. I've made them work with stock columns so the turn signals still work, cancel, etc.

Didn't mean to hijack your post - you have a beautiful car; the pics probably don't do the workmanship justice.
